Indianapolis, Cincy, and Chicago aren't east coast? And you would consider them to be west-coast? Get out a map.

Indy is southern, but directly south of cincy. Chicago and Cincy are consider Mid-West.

But seriously this is no argument. They most definitely are NOT west coast....lmao.

This argument should be based on the media perception of East and West Coast. It is evident in all sports.

Dward00's argument is valid when the media is involved. Most people in the East Coast will be asleep while the teams in the West Coast are playing.

As a journalist myself, it's true. Not many on the East Coast give credit to those on the West Coast.

Yes, Indianapolis, Chicago, and Cincinnati are all in the Mid-West, but the coverage is that of an East Coast team.

hardly. Chicago is not covered nearly as much as any of the cities out east. If you are west of Buffalo area, you are treated like the redheaded stepchild.

You just called me ignorant and I'm not supposed to be offended?....lol First of all, and I"m sorry, but you're being ignorant here. The midwest was not called the mid west because it was in the west. It was called the midwest because that's the region americans started populating when they first started moving west. So back 200 years ago that was considered the west until they started populating california, washington, oregon, and nevada.

Anyways.....and i know you're going to think I'm arguing when in truth I'm 100% right......midwest=east

These are the midwest states:

Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Michigan
Minnesota - the only one widely considered to be a western state out of these
Missouri
Ohio
Wisconsin

The NBA has Eastern, and Western conferences, and guess what? The chicago bulls are in the Eastern Conference.

Here's the NBA's eastern and western conferences. Note the cities, and what conferences they're in.

Eastern Conference - Boston, New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia, Toronto, CHICAGO, Cleveland, Detroit, INDIANA, Milwaukee, Atlanta, Charlotte, Miami, Orlando, and Washington

Western Conference - Denver, Minnesota, Portland, Seatle, Utah, Golden State, L.A. clippers, L.A. Lakers, Phoenix, Sacremento, Dallas, Houston, Memphis, New orleans, and San Antonio

The only one I would disagree with would be Memphis in the Western conference. Maybe New Orleans too.

I hope you can at least admit that I'm not ignorant and I have a valid point, because this is the perception. Anyways I didn't want to debate eastern states from western states. I thought that was elementary.

The best football teams are in Eastern states, and that's the way it's been the past 8-10 years.

I guess Eastern states is the right terminology. Not East-Coast, but I kinda figured you guys would get the point.

hardly. Chicago is not covered nearly as much as any of the cities out east. If you are west of Buffalo area, you are treated like the redheaded stepchild.

So your perception is that western teams get no coverage. Raiders, Lakers, Broncos, Suns. Those teams get no coverage. right?

Here's even more evidence:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Eastern_states

The Eastern United States, the American East, or simply the East is traditionally defined as the states east of the Mississippi River. The first two tiers of states west of the Mississippi have traditionally been considered part of the West, but can be included in the East today; usually in regional models that exclude a Central region.

The states most commonly included are from west to east: Wisconsin, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.

See also: East Coast of the United States, Eastern Seaboard, List of regions of the United States.

As defined by the Census Bureau, the western region of the United States includes 13 states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming; as such if you have been directed here after viewing any statistical information, the above defined is the American West. In the map to the right this would only be the areas shaded dark red and all the U.S. states bordering the Pacific Ocean.

I hope this ends the discussion, and we can actually concentrate on the topic.

THANK YOU AND GOODNIGHT! :wave1:

It's also true that there are only 12 'real' western NFL teams, and 20 'real' eastern NFL teams. It's a little lopsided. 12/32 = 37.5 That means Eastern teams make up 60% of all NFL teams. Western teams didn't make up 40% of all playoff teams though. 2/12 = 16%
