Well well well ,

The 2006 draft has come and here I sit with my current team all ready to make a stab at another championship. Last year was a bust , 3rd in my league , but wasn't too too bad either , too many injuries at the end to make a real go of it :ugh:

This year I had decided to spend a bit more time with the hitters , and look for some pitching that was risk/reward based . I think there were some definate surprises this year in my regular league ( 4 years running same fellas and SERIOUS bragging rights on the line )

It's a 12 man , that's scored as such :

Roster Positions: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, Util, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL

Stat Categories: R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP

I picked 8th AGAIN !! 3 years in a row , my first year I was 12th

Round 1 Carl Crawford 8th pick
Round 2 Jason Bay 17th pick
Round 3 Tod Helton 32nd pick
Round 4 Carlos Beltran 41st pick
Round 5 Juan Pierre 56th pick
Round 6 Melvin Mora 65th pick
Round 7 Rickie Weeks 80th pick
Round 8 Julio Lugo 89th pick
Round 9 Tim Hudson 104th pick

I swear , I couldn't have done much better in the 1st 9 picks. Clearly I focused on the hitters stats with the exception of Hudson who slid a round lower than I thought he'd go , so I grabbed him.

Round 10 Francisco Cordero 113th pick
Round 11 Armando Benitez 128th pick
Round 12 Jorge Posada 137th pick
Round 13 Javier Vazquez 152nd pick
Round 14 Chris Capuano 161st pick
Round 15 Danys Baez 176th pick
Round 16 Justin Duchscherer 185th pick
Round 17 Joe Blanton 200th pick
Round 18 Chris Young 209th pick

Obviously I went for my pitching in the next run of picks. I have a few that are defintely risk/reward , but I think I won't be too bad here .

Round 19 Chris Shelton 224th pick
Round 20 David Dellucci 233rd pick
Round 21 Jeromy Bernitz 248th pick

In the late round I wanted to grab a few more hrs and rbis .. the avg may get damaged here but I figured these guys could actually improve over last year and , if not help , at least not hurt me too bad .

Anyway , anyone else drafted yet ? I'd be interested in any feedback , as always thanks in advance !!!

You are going to struggle in the power department...

Hopefully Beltran will turn it aroune this year and get you a few more hr's than last year...

Baez may have been a wasted pick since "holds" is not a catagory... In leagues like this where there is no "hold" catagory, any reliever besides a closer is a waste IMO... Baez will be setting up Gagne, assuming Gagne is recovered ok to pitch and early reports out of camp is that he is....
