Rays win 2-1 in twelve innings. Great starting pitching performance by both Sparks and Tampa's Wilson. Sparks stayed in until the eighth. I thought Garner left him in one batter too long.

With one out in the 8th and the Tigers up 1-0, Sparks gave up a single then allowed only his second walk. He had thrown over 100 pitches and Toby Hall was due up next. He was already 3 for 3 vs. Sparks on the night. Garner left Sparks in and, sure enough, Hall hit a single driving in the tying run.

Paniagua came in to relieve Sparks and retired the next eight consecutive batters he faced, only furthering my belief that Sparks should have been pulled. Of course, that's baseball.

Winn drove in the winning run in the 12th with a double down the leftfield line off of Jeff Farnsworth. A tougher loss than last night's debacle. Now, the Tigs need to win two straight to see .500.

The series ends tomorrow afternoon at 2pm. Lima goes for the Tigers Thursday. Then, the Tigers then open Comerica Park for the season Friday versus the Indians.

How could a rookie go 4-5 in the best pitching duel of the day? Toby Hall had a great day.
