LaVar Arrington was so disenchanted with the Washington Redskins that he gave up money rather than stay with the team.

The three-time Pro Bowl linebacker and the Redskins parted ways late Sunday night in a deal that allowed Arrington to become a free agent while giving the team a needed break in its effort to get under the salary cap.

An official with knowledge of the transaction, speaking to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity, said Arrington agreed to a buyout that relinquished more than $4 million rather than restructure his contract in a way that would allow him to remain in Washington.

I think it had something to do with Dan Snyder stealing 6 mil from his contract, and then when arrington got injured he made sure he got poor treatment or something. So that's what Lavar Arrington says anyways. That's his excuse for not being the impact player he once was.

It's amazing to me that people already talk about Arrington like his best days were a million years ago. This guy is still young, what the hell happened?

I don't really know, because I don't follow the Skins. Has he just not been playing as well or what? I didn't know what was going on last season when he wasn't getting on the field.

Last season, when Lavar was on the field, he still made things happen. The problem is that Joe Gibbs did not like his style of play. Ever since his HS days, Lavar has been known for making the big play, but also for getting himself out of position while trying to make it. Previous coaches in Washington didnt care and just let him roam freely. Gibbs tried to harness him and get him to play fundamentally sound. It didnt work for Lavar, and he ended up being benched for most of the games. Lavar will still be a force for someone next season.
