The Rangers tried to win tonight, but the pen is killing us again. They must be seeing something in these guys that the rest of us don't. We are walking the bases loaded every night and expecting to win that way??? Come on. Hicks has to make a move on middle relief. We must have some guy in the minors with some great stuff to some up and get some outs, or at least some ground balls that we can get some outs on.
Unless Davis goes the full 9 tonight I see a 4th loss, and a team coming home wondering about the pitching staff again. The local media is eating this alive, and the team is about to hear it first hand. They have to get some wins soon.
Here are some things that happened during the game last night:
Texas catcher Ivan Rodriguez was none too pleased with plate ump Mark Wegner after being rung up on a called third strike. Rodriguez waved his hands wildly and shouted a few obscenities in Wegner's direction but somehow managed to keep from being tossed. Five innings later, Alex Rodriguez stood at home plate for about seven or eight seconds expressing similar displeasure with a called third. It all came to a head in the bottom of the seventh, when Wegner tossed Rangers Manager Jerry Narron after a walk to Chavez loaded the bases. "I just asked where the pitch was and he ran me," Narron said. "If he thinks that's questioning balls and strikes, that's his prerogative. When I go out on the field I just want to make sure I have control of my team and none of our guys get run out of the ball game."
