The Washington Redskins snagged their second receiver in two days of free agency Sunday, signing Antwaan Randle El to a seven-year contract that could be worth up to $31 million.
The Redskins also signed tight end Christian Fauria, and safety Adam Archuleta to their free agency haul Monday
Doing good for a team that had cap problems.....

...for some ungodly sum. For that amount of money they are more than welcome to him. I think it is someting like 31 mil for 6 or 7 years with an 11 million dollar signing bonus.
I knew this was going to happen, but man that's a big contract for a guy who can't live up to it. I hope that he does well, I really do - he helped us win a superbowl, and he is an exciting, not to mention likeable, guy. But Steelers fans know that he isn't worth anywhere near that much.

Thats an awful lot of money for a #3 receiver....

That's what I'm saying. He had 1 touchdown catch last season! Besides frequently dropping passes and costing us the game against the Pats with that ridiculous lateral and running backwards on punt returns for half of the year.

i think the bears were willing to go up to like 18 million for him for nearly the same time frame. He's a nice player, but the skins overpaid for him by a pretty significant margin.

Yeah, I was hoping the Bears would get him, but not for that kind of $$. His attractiveness is because he can fill 3 spots - #2 or #3 reciever, a #3 QB and a punt/kick returner. For that kind of money, they can have him.

They think they see potential in him. They like his size, and athletic ability. Nevermind the fact that he hasn't posted great numbers yet. The counterarguement I saw on the NFL network was that his numbers were good considering Pittsburgh runs a run oriented offense, and well spread/out pass attack. I'm sure they're probably going to expect him to put up better stats in their offensive system.
AND maybe he will. I don't have an oppinion on this because I'm not sure who's right.

what would thye like about his size?? he is 5'9.. has little to NO seperation ability.
Randle El got the contract he got because he threw a TD pass in the Super Bowl. Were it not for that, he would have gotten nothing near this kind of money.
What no one seems to remember is that El had a career year this year, and caught 35 passes. THAT gets you t hat kind of contract?? What is this?? Baseball??

shawn he got that deal because daniel snyder spends money like theres no tomorrow.
as i said, he got offered 6 years for 18 mil with the bears and maybe the superbowl added about two mil to that offer.

in my mind, for someone of his ability, even 6 years at 18 Million is baseball type money.

Yea his size. He's about the same size as Steve Smith. :evillol
And I think Steve Smith has started a trend at wide reciever now.

It is so funny to see the Pittsburgh fans rip him as soon as he leaves. A couple of months ago he was the second best receiver in the NFL, right behind Hines Ward.
The Skins overpaid for him, but they always do. They have a nice group of receivers now, quit being bitter.

Nope, Andrew. We ripped Randle El here in Pittsburgh all season long. I could show you a link to a Steeler board which backs this up. I was unhappy when we drafted him... and have been unhappy with his performance thorughout his career give or take a very few instances.

I always felt Randle El was a solid WR and obviously a great return guy. I would have been ecstatic if he had come to the Bears. We could have used him big time. But Washington waaaaaaaay overpaid for him. Maybe they see something in the guy that other's don't but whatever. $30 million? Sheesh!

Randle El is a good punt returner when he runs straight up the field. Unfortunately, it took him most of the season to realize that. He tried to dance too much this season. That is why most people in Pittsburgh soured on him throughout the past 2 seasons.

He can still blossom. He has potential.

Yeah, open your damn eyes. Randel El makes the Skins alot better, thats why they paid him the big bucks. Don't come crying on my shoulder when the Skins make it to the NFC Championship.
