The Cubs announced today that pitcher Mark Prior will have his shoulder examined later this week. This is pretty much the worst news a Cubs fan could hear. For Cardinal fans like me...

yeah ha ha ha real funny huh? :Pissed: :Pissed: :Pissed: :Pissed: :Pissed:

Anyway, there will be a news conference tomorrow where the Cubs will discuss this whole Prior situation. Maybe I am wrong about this, but I would think that if he were only suffering from something minor, the Cubs would have let eveyone know right away. The fact that they are waiting until tomorrow seems like the ominous sign of grim news. And I was being all hopeful that the Cubs would have a better start to the season than they did last year. :banghead

Good news is (can there really be good news for us?) that Derrek Lee's shoulder injury that he suffered in the WBC is minor and he will be fine come opening day. And he'd better be 'cause we're going to need all the runs we can get!

grim news? as long as his arm hasnt fallen off his body its not grim news. it certainly doesnt sound good, but maybe he just slept on it wrong. ;) have you ever slept on your shoulder wrong and just not felt loose all day no matter what you do? granted, thats probably a stretch, but still unless there is something catastrophically wrong with his shoulder (like frayed labrum, torn cuff) I'm not going to panic.

I still believe! steal that damned white sox journey song. make it for our own.
