EnVision to manage New Ballpark naming rights

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Phillies today announced the selection of EnVision, a world-renowned sports marketing and consulting firm, to manage the naming rights process for the Phillies New Ballpark, including identifying a suitable company and designating the name for the team's new venue, scheduled to open in April 2004.

EnVision has negotiated more than $1 billion in sponsorship and naming rights deals for professional teams. The Phillies selected EnVision primarily due to its extensive experience in matching sports teams and their facilities with companies sharing common audiences and marketing interests.

"EnVision is the authority on venue naming rights," said David Buck, Vice President - Advertising Sales, Philadelphia Phillies. "We understand the complexities of negotiating a deal that will yield the best results for the Phillies, as well as a prospective corporate partner. EnVision's relationships, experience and track record will be an advantage to us in this process."

Jeff Knapple, president and CEO of EnVision, believes the size and strength of the Philadelphia media market plus the Phillies' control of their media rights will be a benefit in attracting a partner. He said, "Philadelphia is fertile ground for a company working to build its relationships with consumers, because it is such a diverse and savvy region. There are many significant possibilities, and we are very anxious to get talks underway with a host of potential partners both locally and nationally." He continued, "Already, several regional companies have expressed interest in discussing naming rights because they understand the power and value this investment can offer."

The terms and features of the naming rights deal for the Phillies New Ballpark are in development and will be considered definitively once the right partner is identified. The naming rights package will be a multi-year deal with considerable marketing and promotion elements.

"We are excited to work with EnVision to get the naming rights process underway," said David Montgomery, Phillies General Partner and President. "Finding the right company to become our partner in enhancing the New Ballpark's brand is essential to our connecting with fans and the community. We feel strongly that EnVision understands and shares our vision for the Phillies New Ballpark and will help us engage in a long-term relationship."

Jeff Knapple, president and CEO of EnVision, formed the company in 1998 through a joint partnership with Phillip F. Anschutz Coproration. In the last few years, Knapple has led negotiations for some of the largest deals in the sports marketing industry including the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and Philips Arena in Atlanta.
