The Brewers signed Allan Simpson to a minor-league contract Sunday, a day after the 28-year-old right-hander was released. Simpson was released by Cincinnati on Saturday. In five outings for the Reds this spring, Simpson was 1-0 with two saves and a 0.00 earned run average.
In 43 big-league appearances, including nine for the Reds last season and 34 with Colorado in 2004-'05, Simpson has a 6.22 ERA. He was originally selected by Seattle in the eighth round of the 1997 June free agent draft.
Simpson, who lives in Appleton, Wis., will join the Brewers in major-league camp on Tuesday. He is expected to start the season with Class AAA Nashville.
