I was in Florida at my parents' house earlier this month. They live halfway between McKechnie Field and Ed Smith Stadium, so when I am down there, we go to games at both places.
Well, at McKechnie, I got my Diet Pepsi in a souvenir cup. The cup is gold and black, with the team's slogan for 2006. This slogan is "We Will Prepare."
All I can ask is "Prepare for WHAT?????"
No offense, but this is the single most lame slogan I've ever heard. What were they thinking?

I pretty much hate their slogan every year, and this year is no exception. They do not seem to know much about how to market a baseball team.
Somebody was actually talking about how their marketing was partly responsible for their improved season ticket sales .... I think they just didn't want to blame it all on the all star game.

Julie, while the slogan actually sort of does suck, it actually make a lot more sense when you see it on the commercials.

Ha, Ha. Some of the slogans do appear lame. From a marketing standpoint, the team probably does not mind if they are lame. If it draws attention, that is the goal. Sometimes bad, actually draws more attention. While I doubt that is ever the plan, sometimes a bad ad or slogan can actually draw attention and do well for a company. Will a sports fan actually stop coming because of a slogan? I doubt it. But the repition in ads can draw more attention to the team, even if it is subliminal. Of course a real horrible ad can have a detrimental effect. Just look at all the lousy and lame Burger King ads. I actually stopped going to Burger King because of them. That Burger King Dude is just plain creepy and all the other ads are sexual in content.

As a Pirates fan it pains me to say this but it probably means we will prepare to rebuild again next season.

See, I haven't seen any of the commercials yet, I've just heard about the slogan. I'll have to see one before I pass complete judgment I suppose.
By the way, anyone catch us on ESPN yesterday? Olly looked pretty damn good.

What do they do in the commercials? I can't imagine much that would make this slogan make sense.
It makes "the team, the time, the Mets" look brilliant.

Julie, the slogan isnt actually "we Will Prepare..."
It is "we Will..."
The commercials go more into it than just that. One commercial might be "we will hustle.."
Another is "we will entertain..."
etc...
