Prior, Wood placed on DL
from MLB.com
The Cubs officially placed Kerry Wood and Mark Prior on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday, retroactive to Monday.
Wood, 28, is rehabbing from arthroscopic shoulder surgery in late August, and could be ready by late April.
Prior, 25, is sidelined indefinitely with a strained right subscapularis muscle in his right shoulder. He played catch on Monday for the first time since experiencing discomfort on March 14, having last pitched off of a mound on March 12. Prior, who will be starting his third straight season on the disabled list, has not pitched in Cactus League action this spring.
Also on Tuesday, the Cubs sent pitchers David Aardsma and Jae Kuk Ryu to Triple-A Iowa, and catcher Casey Kopitzke to the Minor League camp. The moves reduce the spring camp roster to 30: 15 pitchers, two catchers, seven infielders and six outfielders.
