OAKLAND, Calif. -- Chan Ho Park, hit hard in his first game for the Texas Rangers, was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday because of a strained right hamstring.

The move was made retroactive to Tuesday.

Park, the prize pitcher in the offseason free-agent pool, signed a $65 million, five-year contract with Texas.

Park originally hurt his hamstring during a spring training game against Minnesota on March 27. He aggravated it in his start Monday on opening day against Oakland.

The right-hander allowed six runs on five hits over five innings in his Rangers' debut, an 8-3 loss to the A's. He struck out five.

To fill his place on the roster, the Rangers recalled right-hander Francisco Cordova from Triple-A Oklahoma. Cordova will join the club on Friday in Texas.

Also Thursday, the Rangers acquired outfielder Rashad Eldridge from the Cleveland Indians for outfielder Chris Magruder.

Eldridge, a switch-hitter, batted .258 with five home runs and 27 RBIs for Burlington in the rookie league last season. He will be assigned to Savannah in the South Atlantic League.

Magruder was designated for assignment by Texas on Saturday.

Oach,That's just what the Rangers didn't need.

That sure is a bad sign.
