Philly and Seattle are both in the hunt for a starter. Both organizations have a number of highly rated pitching prospects. Philly seems more likely to deal judging from their discussions about Astacio.

i wonder if the bucs will get a gm first though before they make a trade. I wonder how that is going i havent heard a peep about it in awhile. but since schmidt is leaving anyway i would hope they get something descent and healthy in return.
I've also heard that the Cards are interested in Schmidt. Let's hope that there is a bidding war for him.

I'd be very hesitant to deal Schmidt to a division rival. If ARbcukle is the man, then he should know the Philly minor league system pretty well and make us a good deal.

I have to guess that a GM will be in place before any deals go down of this magnitude... Emil is small potatoes by comparison to dealing one of our starters...
