View Full Version : I'm concerned about Proctor

Our little gem that popped out of nowhere has thrown 22.0 innings already. That's tops in the bullpen, with Rivera throwing 16.0 innings and Farnsworth throwing a whopping 13.2 innings.

This is concerning. Proctor has been freakishly excellent, but his arm is going to explode if we keep throwing him so much. At this pace, he'd be projected to throw 104 innings in a 162 game season.

The return of Dotel will relieve the whole bullpen, but the disparity in gametime between Farnsworth and Proctor is glaring. Joe needs to trust Farnsy more, even with his bad moments this year. If he doesn't, Proctor will become 2006's Paul Quantrill.

Thoughts?

Proctor is the man. Farnsy is also the man.

That's all.

Who else is the bullpen? Myers only deals with left hand batters, being a left hand specialist. Villone and Small need to be used more, because they might burn out Proctor and Farnsworth at this pace. Sturtze just went on the DL. If you burn out Proctor's arm and Farnsworth's arm, then you have a problem.

Dotel can't get back soon enough.

Small does need more work. Even if he's a long relief pitcher. He only got 5 innings under his belt this season.

I definitely think Proctor and Farnsworth should split innings equally until(if) Proctor's swan song ends.

Agreed that Villone should get more innings. He must have kicked Torre's dog or something, because he's hardly ever used

I definately agree with you both.

Small hasn't looked very good yet because he hasn't gotten enough innings. Villone has looked pretty good, IMO. But he to needs much more innings.

This is the exact reason why I hate Torre though as a in game manager. He doesn't know what the hell he's doing when it comes to pitching.

I agree, managing the bullpen is definitely not his strong point.

At least he actually have real pitchers to work with this year...... but then he keeps sending out the fake pitcher meh
