SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco Giants second baseman Jeff Kent returned to the lineup Saturday after a season-opening stint on the disabled list with a broken bone in his left wrist.
Kent missed the Giants' first four games of the season and all but two games in spring training.
Kent, a former NL MVP, told reporters he injured his wrist while washing his truck. But later reports said he might have had an accident while riding his motorcycle near the Giants' spring training home at Scottsdale Stadium.
Giants manager Dusty Baker said he didn't have any immediate expectations for Kent, who bats cleanup behind Barry Bonds.
"He looked pretty good in batting practice, but I haven't seen him in a game," Baker said.
Team trainer Stan Conte said Kent was ready to go.
"I'm not concerned about the fracture at all. He's been rehabbing so long," Conte said. "The main concern is tendinitis and so far we haven't seen it."
The Giants also placed backup first baseman Damon Minor on the 15-day disabled list with tendinitis in his left knee.
Minor, the backup for J.T. Snow, has appeared in two games this season for the Giants, going 0-for-3.
