THINK PINK
Every position player but Bubba Crosby received a pink bat in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Day and all but Alex RodrĂ*guez and Jorge Posada used them during Sunday's game. Crosby, who was disappointed he was overlooked, made it clear he would have used the pink bat if he had been in the Yankee clubhouse in spring training when the Louisville Slugger representative was present.
In addition to the bats, every player was given pink sweat bands and new game shirts with a pink ribbon tied around an official Major League Baseball patch. The shirts and the bats will eventually be auctioned off to charity.
Bernie Williams joked that his bat was "Pepto Bismol pink" and was a bit uncomfortable using it. However, when asked if he would he use it in the future if he went 4-for-4 with it, Williams replied, "That would pose an interesting dilemma."
Mariano Rivera then jokingly chimed in, "If I was a batter, I would use a pink bat all season. Every day."
Mo has to be the coolest person ever :D
