Pretty hectic second period so far ... lots of action.
It's too bad college hockey doesn't get the attention the other sports (football, baseball, basketball, NHL) get.

I'm disappointed that Maine couldn't find a way to win. Was it just me or was the Minnesota keeper a cheapshot artist? He had two terrible, blatant cheapshots in the overtime that went uncalled. For a senior, he sure didn't show much composure or class. Obviously, I was less than impressed with the Gophers netminder. Great game, though.

Trots-He was BASHING people around, but it was clear they weren't gonna call a thing against Minn. Oh well. *sigh* Good game.
But... but.... Aww...
I know someone who was trying for the Maine team, hurt his ankle (or something) badly and now is my co-history teacher.
No, Maine IS a big state!

Great game, but I was disappointed Minnesota scored the way they did.
I agree Brian. Howser was a cheap shot artist. What ticked me off was the officials were basically letting the players play for 60 minutes, and then they call a penalty with 4:00 left. That's ridiculous, especially after Howser tripped two guys. If you're going to let them play, then don't stop that philosophy with 4:00 left in OT for goodness sakes. I was upset Minnesota scored on the power play. I don't have a problem with them winning, but geesh, don't decide the outcome of a national championship in overtime. That's like calling a flagrant foul for hand slapping a guy in a game tied at 70 with 2:00 left. You just don't do it.

Josh, the trip at center ice was obvious, but how did they miss Howser's highstick on the kid skating by? That was terrible. He clotheslined the guy with his stick and didn't get a call. He really could have hurt the opposing player. Any chance I had of supporting my Big Ten school went out the door with that piece of stickwork.
I felt Minnesota carried the play in OT. You could just feel they were going to score. Maine seemed a step slow in OT and would have needed a soft goal or crazy bounce to win. I felt for the Bears, they were only seconds from a title. I think the emotion of giving up that third goal did them in.

The trip was obvious, but I hate to see a national championsip game decided on a power play when A) it shouldn't have been called or B) the referees didn't call anything else.
Minnesota did carry the play in OT. You can't blame Maine for being deflated when they were 50 seconds away from a national title.
