Hit Manny Ramirez if he admires one more of his freakin' homeruns. Let him admire the ball hitting him right in the back like Pedro would do to Jeter and Soriano and anyone else he wanted. He really needs to 'shut-up.'

Also on tonights game, what the eff is with that homeplate umpire?!? The strike zone is expanded a foot off each corner for the Sox, and the Yankees get shit called for them...

A lot of baseball players admire their home runs. Not sure why that irked you, Royce. I'm wondering what the heck A-Rod was doing during his home run. He looking straight up in the sky, then looking lost, the trotting the base. Did he lose sight of the ball?

You won the game. What's the deal of complain about the umpire? :laff:

Strike zone look fine to me. I think Mo also thought so, too, since he blew the Sox away after coming in. Maybe your relief pitchers were actually having control issues and walking batters? :laff:

No, Myers painted the corner twice and the ump called them balls. When Farnsworth was in it seemed like the strike zone was sqeezed(sp?). But, like you said we won the game so I'm happy. Rivera looked great. :)

And how about Jaret Wright he pitched out of what 4 or 5 jams? Nice work, Jaret. I have much more faith in him then Carl Pavano, maybe even Randy. :hmm:

Ordinarily I'd agree, but this one is on Proctor. Manny wasn't pleased with Proctor's comments in SI. Proctor called Manny a weak hitter, and said it was easy to strike him out.

I know exactly how to strike Manny out. I wouldn't say it's easy because he's a great hitter. But, I know his weaknesses. And last night Proctor was not even close. ;)

I don't read SI. Maybe that has something to do with it.

But I just seemed to me like he was standing there for like 10 minutes watching it. Normally, I don't mind if you watch it for a second like everyone does. Also, hitting a batter will help you out on the outside corner.

If you're worried about the outside corner it's better to brush them off the plate rather then actually hit them.

He said he did not think it was a home run. He thought it was a pop fly. He was showing the runners where the ball was

No...it's the long term effect. It's always in the back of your mind as a hitter when a pitcher nails you with one. If Manny got hit with a nice fastball I'll bet you that you won't see him diving over the plate.

That HR and Manny admiring it was downright fabulous. :D

Baseball is too damn sensitive about guys showing any kind of hotdogging. If a Yankee player did that, I'd probably laugh at it (then I'd say someone should plunk him :D ).

I kind of like the fact that hitters show off a little when they hit home runs. It is a great feat to hit the ball out of the park. I know it shows up the opposing team, but if they don't like it pitch better so he can't hit it. I can't remember the name of the player now, but I used to like watching him. He played for the Giants. Every time he hit a HR he ran around the bases with one arm down. He used to get a lot of grief over it. They called it one flap down-if somebody remembers his name please let me know. I think just about every home run hitter watches the ball go out when they know they got a good hit on it.

I seriously doubt it. Manny would probably more so want to hit one deep if he got hit on purpose. You really think Manny would just give you the outside corner?

Royce

I guess you've never played baseball before or hit of a pitcher that threw +85 mph. It HURTS when you get hit, especially when it gets you in the right spot. It's call the intimidation factor. If you show a hitter you're not afriad to come inside and hit him, he will not dive into the plate and hit the outside pitch as effectively. It's always in the back of your mind if a pitcher nails you.

Guys please. We are talking about Manny. He is 6 years old in a grown man's body. He has been hit plenty of times. It does not intimidate him. He doesn't even know what it means. He thinks an alien fell out of the sky and hit him.
