I figured what the heck, why not? I might as well start a thread for the Bucs, after all I'm from Florida and I started the Jags thread. So I guess it's up to me. I know, what's next? A Dolphin thread? Ya never know. I'm really just trying to apply pear pressure to everyone else so that they'll start a thread for their own team, hopefully leading to a divisioned off page like on the MLB side. Yeah I got big plans.
PEACE

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Receiver David Boston, who has missed most of the past two seasons, signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday.
Boston, a Pro Bowl selection in 2001 when he had 98 receptions for the Arizona Cardinals, was limited to five games over the past two years with the Miami Dolphins because of injuries.
All five of those games came in 2005, when he caught four passes for 80 yards before being placed on injured reserve with a knee injury.
A first-round draft pick of the Cardinals in 1999, Boston has 315 career catches for 4,699 yards and 25 touchdowns in seven seasons with Arizona, San Diego and Miami.
The Bucs also announced that receiver B.J. Johnson was released.
--Good reciever, but never healthy. If he can actually stay healthy the Bucs have a steal here. Add him to the the mix with Claytona and Galloway and you've got a nice triple threat for Simms.

I completly understand, I'm a baseball fan first anyhow. When it comes to a football section, this is just stage 1, somewhere around stage 245 we should have enough, but hey, we have to start somewhere.

Just a little Bucs update from SI.com:http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/football/nfl/08/01/barber.bucs.ap/index.html
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) -- All-Pro cornerback Ronde Barber wants to play his entire career for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is on the verge of signing a contract extension that will give him a chance to do so.
"It's getting there. ... We've made a lot of progress the past couple weeks, and I think both sides are getting happy with where it might be," the 10th-year pro said after practice Tuesday.
"I hope it happens some time soon. I can't tell you when it's going to be," Barber added. "I really wish I could."
The twin brother of New York Giants running back Tiki Barber became the first cornerback in NFL history with 20 career interceptions and 20 career sacks last season. Tampa's defense has ranked among the top 10 statistically every year since he moved into the starting lineup in 1998.
The three-time Pro Bowl selection is third on Tampa Bay's career list with 28 interceptions and is entering the final season of a six-year contract he signed after the 2000 season.
Barber said his agent, Ethan Lock, and Bucs general manager Bruce Allen have been working on an extension "for a good two months now, so it's just a matter of time" before the new contract is finalized.
"When Bruce finishes drafting it and we agree to it, then I'll sign it," Barber said.
Allen would not speculate when the deal might be done.
"There's nothing really to update," the general manager said.
"I feel good about the process right now. We both have said `I do.' Now we just have to figure out how."
Like nine-time Pro Bowl selection Derrick Brooks, who took a huge pay cut to remain with the only team he's played for in a 12-year career, Barber relishes the prospect of spending his entire career in Tampa Bay.
"I made that pretty evident throughout the years, even back to my other contract six years ago," Barber said. "It's just a great place to be, a great organization. ... If there's one priority, and I think any player that has had any level of success with any team, they want to stay with that organization."
Coach Jon Gruden likes the idea, too.
"He's a big part of this organization. I don't know that that's a big surprise. We're doing everything we can to keep all of our best players," Gruden said. "We like great players, and certainly his caliber. His status is very important to us."
Barber, 31, is second behind Brooks among active Bucs in consecutive games played (128) and his streak of 103 consecutive starts is the longest among NFL cornerbacks. He concedes a long career takes a toll on any player's body. However, he believes he has a lot of football left in him.
"I try not to think about longevity. ... Ten years, obviously the joints don't feel the same. But that's with everybody," Barber said of how long he thinks he can continue to perform at a high level. "You really approach it year to year. I don't have a feeling in my bones that I'm even close to retirement."

Good deal, we need more people like you. I'm a Jags fan, but I felt the Bucs needed to be represented and as a born and raised Floridian, I felt it was my duty. I have to admit I'm more of a Tony Dungy Bucs fan than a Jon Gruden Bucs fan, but a Bucs fan no less (Unless they're playing the Jags).

Gruden has constatly stated that Phil SImms is the man this year, but apparently another QB is stepping up as the number 2.
Si.com's Truth and Rumors section:
Bruce Gradkowski's development has been so rapid that he is forcing Jon Gruden to rethink his quarterback lineup. Gruden made it clear Sunday that Tampa Bay is comfortable playing the rookie in the regular season should the need arise. -- St. Petersburg Times

I know the Bucs are deperate for a QB, but PHIL Simms??
Although I'm sure he is probably still just as good, if not better that the other boneheads the Bucs have in camp;)

The Bucs buggest suprise of the Bucs cuts was that WR David Boston DIDN'T get cut. Other than that, Jay Fielder getting cut a few days ago would be the only mild suprise, and that's not even a big suprise. Fiedler isn't completely healed from his shoulder injury and the Bucs didn't want to pay his salary. Rumor has it he may get another shot this season when and if TB needs a QB. Fielder just needs some more time to rehab.
The espn article about the Bucs cuts, and non cuts is here:
