Yes, but the Fish would want more.
You think so?
I love the D-Train, but I also love Milledge... Not so sure I'd do it:notme:

Dontrelle has proven he can be a great pitcher. Milledge has yet to prove anything in the majors. Dontrelle is still very young. You could have the best in the league at some point. If that is all they want, take it and run.

I dont really agree with that... D-Train has proven himself a little bit by having a great rookie season and then a great season last year... What happend in 2004 and now again this year, where his era is over 4.00 and his WHIP stinks?
His 1st 4 years have shown a pattern for every other year to be a good one..
Look at his #'s:
Year Team G GS W L SV CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP BAA
2003 FLA 27 27 14 6 0 2 2 160.2 148 61 59 13 58 142 3.30 1.28 .245
2004 FLA 32 32 10 11 0 2 0 197.0 210 99 88 20 61 139 4.02 1.38 .273
2005 FLA 34 34 22 10 0 7 5 236.1 213 79 69 11 55 170 2.63 1.13 .243
2006 FLA 12 12 2 6 0 1 0 76.1 85 44 40 6 26 43 4.72 1.45 .285
Career 105 105 48 33 0 12 7 670.1 656 283 256 50 200 494 3.44 1.28 .258
Now I realize that he is not surrounded by the best of teams this year but that doesn't give him an excuse with an era of almost 5 and hitters hitting .275 vs him...
Actually you are correct with Dontrelle has proven he can be a great pitcher
Key word being can But he is not consistant...
Thats why I'm not so sure that this trade is such a no brainer....
You say that Willis could be one of the best in this league, well so could Milledge at some point as well... You think Willis is young, Milledge just turned 21 a little over a month ago...
I think I'd rather take my chances with someone young that the Mets see as their best prospect (ala: Wright and Reyes) than to take a chance and trade him away and it burn us (ala: Kazmir)
I think if i were to trade Milledge, it would have to be someone more of the caliber of maybe a Zito, who has been more consistant for a longer time than Willis...

Midledge is a good up and coming hitter, but he's no sure deal. Dontrell Willis was the runner up for the Cy Young last year and is 23. While he may not have been a dominant Cy Young caliber player every year, what are the odds that Miledge is the runner up for the MVP anytime soon or ever. How many really good pitchers have EVER been close to a Cy Young?
So, while neither team would want to do the deal, it's more likely that the Mets would do the deal than the fish. To add to all of that, Dontrell is a Left handed starter.

PS If Dontrell were older this may not be the case, or if Dontrell was making more mula. Plus this year is not over yet, Dontrell goes through stretches were he is inaffective, but he rights the ship in a BIG WAY, so he'll be fine. As a matter of fact, puitting him on a better team will probably keep him from trying to be so perfect, which has gotten him in trouble this season.

.
Umm, alot;)
There are a ton of 1 or 2 year wonders over the course of baseball history.. Not saying Willis is one of them, but you never know..
For the record, I really like Willis but I think that this possible trade is not so cut and dry an advantage for the Mets... I'm also not saying I WOULDN'T do it but I'm not so sure I would either...

(Cy Young quality seasons) Even if the numbers are 5 or 6 a decade that are one year wonders to have THAT good of a season. That's not a lot. I know where your coming from, but still.

Dontrelle hasn't been able to handle the big games. In the 2003 World Series he was delegated to the bullpen because he fell apart when he started during the playoffs. And I believe he blew games in the WBC. He gets Benitez-itis. I love the guy, but he may just not have what it takes for the post season.
But then again, maybe he'll outgrow it. If not, he certainly can help get us there.
He's young. He's a lefty. Pitching is what wins it. I say do it!

 I agree, but that wouldn't stop the Mets, which means I agree again. He's young and in the 2003 series he was a rookie. In the WBC he chocked yet again, but so did the whole damn team (I'm still bitter).
