Eric Davis wore a numberless jersey when he made his major league debut with Cincinnati as a pinch-hitter on May 19, 1984.
Also on September 4, 1961, White Sox pitcher Joe Horlen made his big league debut in Minnesota. A last-minute call-up, Horlen was forced to wear a uniform with no number, the only road jersey the club had available.

I think I may have finally nailed you on one Henry. According to my research there is one more instance of a player wearing a uniform w/o a number and it happened after Eric Davis did it. Try again.

9-27-99 Each of the Tigers wore the uniform numbers of all-time Detroit players at their position (OF Gabe Kapler, standing in for Ty Cobb, wears no number) the Tigers defeat the Royals, 8-2, in the last game ever played at Tiger Stadium.
Nice job Henry, but I'm still counting this as a "I finally stumped hhascup in baseball trivia."
I'm giving myself a  and a nanner for that.

VERY GOOD!
I wasn't thinking, I remember when the Tigers did that too!
