The Cubs have won 4 out of the last six, and are looking much better. Also, Prior and Lee are just a week-2 weeks away from playing again. And of course, the major upside for Cubs fans, St. Louis' offense went on the DL. My guess is the Cards will play .500 at best without him. If the Cubs can play better than .500 until then, they may very well be in the playoff hunt. Some have already written off the Cubs. Namely, ESPN ranks them 29th among Power Rankings, right ahead of KC.

To me, this is a disgrace. Knowing that this team has the talent to go all the way just upsets me because of the way they've been playing.

So, your thoughts, is this the Cubs big break, or not?

the talent to go all the way? where? They have the talent to be competitive, but thats about it. not with their pitching staff the way its been in. and without Lee, and soon to be without barrett, they are still short a coupla guys in the lineup

I don't think they can do it. They lack a bat other than Lee (Ramirez has been medocre) and they don't have enough of a pitching staff, Wood and Prior never stay healthy for long. I would like to see the cubs competitive, but I just don't see that happening without Ramirez getting hot and Lee (who says he'll get hot automatically when he gets activated.

-The Cards do have a deeper pitching staff and a little more help in the offense, so I think the Cubs will gain some ground, but not enough.

I don't think the Cubs will gain that much- especially since they are also in the division with my Reds.:dancin: I do think they will gain some ground though. Lee is coming back and should give Ramirez some protection to get him going. That should get Pierre going. He needs to score runs. The pitching staff needs help. Zambrano and Madduz cannot do it alone. Wood is going to give them a few good outings before he is hurt again. Who knows if Prior is even going to pitch again this year. If they come back strong, they are dominating pitchers and can change a season, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
