He "accomplished" this feat while playing for the Mets.

Good guesses but you're not looking for a catcher. Machine gun your outfield.;)

Tommie Agee .165 in 1968

Not Agee. Actually in 1968 a former AL MVP (but not the player I'm looking for) hit for a lower average than Agee. Tommie ranks 5th on the list.

edit:make that 5th on the NL list.

How about Tommie Reynolds in '67?

Not Reynolds, he hit .220 in 1967 for the Mets at home (lower on the road, .198)

The second worst was an Angel SS who hit .149 at home.
The third worst home average ever is by an Astro catcher who hit .150 at home (133 AB's).
The fourth worst is the former AL MVP I mentioned, who hit .153 at home.
The fifth worst was a Senator SS who hit .155 at home.
The sixth worst was an Indian 3B who hit .160 at home.
The seventh worst (and most obscure of the bunch) was a Senator 3B/1B who hit .161 at home.
The eighth worst is a Phillie catcher who hit .163 at home.

The worst ever is the Met who only managed a .134 at home.

(bonus points for all of the above you can name):D

All are since 1960.
