damn. masterful performance by the Big Z tonight. kept his composure, even when there were some EXTREMELY questionable pitches to berkman.
but man, that was an awesome awesom performance. And he was still throwing 96 mph in the 8th after 125 pitches.

i like him too. i was even impressed with how he kept his cool in the 7th and 8th with the squeezing and then after he gave up the hit.
and the 3 run bomb hit was nice. :D
you know the two best pitching performances by cubs pitchers (and this was the 2nd best in the past ten behind the obvious one) were against the astros! lol

I have always thought Zambrano was the best pitcher on the staff for the last couple years. Maddux has been good, but he is on the downside of his career.

And yes, he is only 25.
Side note, Isringhausen blows number 4, Cards drop one to the Reds, both CHC and CIN gain 1 on St Louis.

You're absolutely right, they couldn't hit a beach ball right now. Burke and Ausmus are the only two I have any confidence in right now, and that's a pretty sorry situation. One of the guys hitting the least is Wilson, the hitter who saved the team from the ultimate shame of having a no-no thrown at them by a Cubs pitcher, and that ball pretty much had eyes on it. I guess the only saving grace is that when the season is over, we all know who has the best chance of playing in the post season.;)
