Well, even though the Mets are paying a huge chunk of Kaz's deal, they still save some money on this one. Not really sure just what the hell the Rockies are thinking, however. Guessing Shad will chime in.

Went to ESPN this link (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2477398) and it's kinda' funny since under Matsui's photo they have the name 'Barber.' Wonder what that's about?

How much cash is involved?

The article I heard just said "cash" and gave no amount...

Shit, you think we were excited?:nut:

Marrero hit .320 in 90 games for Atlanta only 2 years ago...

Plus throw in that Eli is making only $750,000 this season compared to 8+million for that piece of garbage, Matsui....

With the emergence of Valentin at 2nd, we had absolutely no use for Matsui... I'm just wondering what the Rox are thinking on this deal.. Unless the Mets gave them 7 million in cash;)

According to a report on Newsday's Web site, the Mets would in effect pay what is left on Matsui's contract by paying the $477,000 remaining on Marrero's deal and sending the Rockies about $4.6 million.

You have guess right.........

Well I am going to say I like the deal. Mets pay most of everything. Mets get a guy that when he filled in for Helton he did an ok job. Clears up a spot now for the Rox to make some moves. (Sent Kaz to AAA and called up a outfielder already) And if nothing works out with Kaz nothing lost. If he does great then great. Dont like to see Eli go but there is a huge log jam in the Rockies system and this will help clear it up a bit.

Good deal for both I say....

I mean the guy's fielding was starting to improve, but still. He really served no purpose in being on our roster.

Thank goodness that Omar finally found a taker after almost two years of trying!

Was the original signing a Valentine influenced Duquette deal?
