Just a quick question, does anybody know, why do most players stick their index finger out of the glove in their glove hand? Is it just fashion or is there a reason for it?

I did it because it made my glove pocket feel larger and more importantly, didn't hurt my index finger when catching line drives.

I do it so I have a digit free for nose picking.

Really it was just to give me extra padding for that finger like Toy said. I've noticed that a lot of the guys now have that little out-of-glove pocket added to their mitts for their index fingers.

I also did it for the extra pocket. It made it easier to catch the ball. It does hurt your finger catching the ball if you don't take the finger out

if i keep my index finger in my glove, it feels constricted and therefore much less comfortable, making me play worse.
