Here we are in Pittsburgh (before we head to NYC) and PNC Park (what the hell does PNC stand for anyway?) I have to say I like the stadium but I do miss Forbes Field. Three Rivers was OK, but I like this place better. Looking forward to trying some of those famous Primanti Brothers sandwich's later tonight.

Since 1960, two Pirate pitchers have thrown 7 shutouts in a single season. Who are they?

Steve Blass is one...

I'll have to research the other:)

Steve Blass and Bob Veale.

Also, PNC is tha name of a bank in Pittsburgh, but we have always said it stands for "Pops -N- Clemente"

Veale in 1965 and Blass in 1968. Of course you'll have to share a couple of those dancin' nanners with James for coming up with Blass.

Pops-N-Clemente, I like that.

Since 1960, who are the four Pirates that have had hitting streaks of 23 games or better?

How about Jason Kendall and Kenny Lofton? I'm pretty sure they both had around 25-game streaks in the same season a few seasons back (2003?).

And Al Oliver has to be on the list. Him or Bill Madlock.

Lofton hit in 26 consecutive games in 2003 and Kendall hit in 23 in 2003 as well. Very good Willie. Oliver hit in 23 straight in 1974. Mad Dog never owned a 20 game hitting streak as a Pirate.

One more to go...

None of the above, but in the "did you know" category, (and I was going to ask this in a question but what the hell) of all the Pirates who own hitting streaks of 20 or longer, Gene Alley is the one who hit the most HR's. He hit 8 HR's in a 21 game hitting streak in 1969. Talk about being locked in, that's all the HR's he hit that season in 285 AB's.

I went digging for the last one. Man, I just never think about Maury Wills being with the Pirates.

Which is one of the things that makes this such a cool question, at least to me.;) In 1968 Maury Wills hit in 24 consecutive games for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Larry Jaster of the Cards ended the streak.

Nice diggin' Willie.
