A quick stop in Baltimore before I head south. Howdy Nanner :wave1: I like what you've done with the place. I stopped by and chatted with Boog Powell earlier and had some of his barbequed ribs. He gave me this recipe:
Korean Barbequed Short Ribs
Source: Mesquite Cookery by John "Boog" Powell
5 lb Beef short ribs, 2 1/2-inches long
MARINADE
1 tbsp sesame seeds
1 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp mirin (sweet rice wine) or sherry
3 tbsp sugar
2 tsp fresh ginger, finely minced
4 garlic cloves, crushed
2 tbsp dried red pepper, chopped
Toast sesame seeds in pan over low flame. Grind sesame seeds in mortar and pestle and add to marinade.
Place ribs in a large plastic bag. Combine marinade ingredients and pour over ribs, pressing air out of bag and sealing securely. Marinate in refrigerator at least 4 hours. Remove ribs from bag, shaking off excess marinade. Grill ribs over hot mesquite 15 to 20 minutes, turning and basting just before removing from the grill. Ribs are ready when brown and crispy.Thank you Boog:thumbsup:
Now on with the show: Boog Powell (you knew I'd start off with him, right) once slammed 3 HR's in a game which accounted for all three runs the Orioles would score in a 3-1 win over the Senators. Who was the pitcher who bought Boog dinner that night? :D

Would that be Pat Dobson?

Would that be Pat Dobson?
Nope, but Pat was a mighty fine pitcher. While the pitcher in question never played for the Padres like Pat did, he none-the-less has a bit of history with the Friars.

That Friar's hint doesn't help me  so I'll try another guess out of the blue: Dave McNally?
That's my final guess. :D

That's my final guess. :D
Not McNally. Someone who tossed a no-hitter against the Padres.

Well, now we know it was during or after 1969 season of Boog's career. :D
BTW, Love your signature TC and that recipe sounds yummy!

Safe to say it wasn't Jim Hannan buying him dinner that night ;)
Funny how this works out sometimes, one name keeps popping up in several questions, or at least the research when looking for an answer. I'm going to say Milt Pappas.

Milt bought Boog the finest seafood platter available in Baltimore that evening in late June of 1964.

Since 1958, Brooks Robinson has the most game ending RBI of anyone who played for the Orioles(18). If I had worded the question this way, it no doubt would have been answered quickly. Cal Ripken is 2nd on the list (12) and Eddie Murray is 3rd (10). Frank Robinson is tied for 4th with 9. Who is he tied with? :D

Raffy had 5 game winners with 4 of them being HR's. Belle never had a game ending hit for the Birds.

Can I throw a few your way (or for anyone else that may know)
1. Of Brooksie's 18 game winners, can you tell me how many were off of future HOF'ers and who they were?
2. 1 of his game winners was a grand slam.. Who did he hit the GS off of?
3. How many were pinch hits and name the pitcher(s) he hit them off of?
Ripken, who is 2nd on the list with 12, won a game with a game winning rbi via a walk... Who was the pitcher that walked him?
Mark Belanger, who is tied with Robinson, with 9, had only 1 of his 9 game winners via the homerun.. Who did he hit that HR off of?

1) Rollie Fingers is the only HOF'er.
2) He hit a grand slam off Lindy McDaniel.
3) His last game winner was a pinch-hit 3-run HR off Dave LaRoche.
Ripken drew a bases loaded walk off Mark Acre of the A's in 1996.
Belanger hit a 3-run HR off Dave Sells of the Angels.

It's always great to have you play JA. After I swing through the south and back up through the mid-west, I'll head over to the left coast and pay you a visit. Looking forward to some nachos and a few cold ones at Friars.
