Neither the Mets nor the Red Sox do well against rookie pitchers, and each team has one tonight. Other than tonight, all I can say is that Wednesday and Thursday have the potential to be "instant classics." ESPN2 has the game tonight, and ESPN is carrying it tomorrow.
I can hardly wait for 7 o'clock. May the best team win.

Red Sox take two of three.
I have a feeling Pedro is going to get knocked around a bit.

Ditto. And lots of rain delays Wednesday and Thursday.

I agree. Sox will take 2 of 3. But, while Babs sees Pedro getting hit hard, I see Beckett being shaky.
In the final analysis, I do see the teams as rather well matched. This could go into the bullpens. Sox have Papelbon; the Mets don't.

Nah, Beckett is fine at home. It's away from Fenway that Josh Beckett becomes John Burkett.

I would have loved to watch Pedro vs Schilling.....:(
I say Boston take 2 of three. Jon Lester will be brilliant again.

I like Boston so I wouldn't mind if they take 2 out of 3 which i think is what will happen. i just wanna get one W and i'll be happy. it'd be cool if Pedro got the W (and billy wagner better not eff up!)
please no more rain. i'm so sick of rain. :(

Pedro v. Schilling would be cool, but we take what we can get.

Hopefully David Ortiz will stop sucking ass and bring that .260 BA or whatever it is back up to the .300 range.

Just as long as he doesn't hit it off Billy Wagner or Aaron Heilman. Billy doesn't need any more problems and Aaron's still trying to prove he can be a starter.
If the Yankees sweep the Braves (which is likely), their record will be 45-31. If the Sox take 2 of 3 against the Mets (which is also likely), their record will be 47-29. So the Yankees would only pick up a half game and would be 2 games back.

The problem for our blue-and-orange team is that the best pitchers are going against our blue-and-red team instead of the enemy. This weekend should be Duque vs Mussina, Trachsel vs Johnson and Soler vs. Wright or Chacon.

I honestly can see the Sox winning 2 of 3 or the Mets winning 2 of 3.. I'd be shocked to see either team sweep.. I think tonights game will see the Mets lose and then the other 2 could go either way....

Lester is awesome! he's so friggen mature! in the 4th and 5th innings he loaded the bases, got into a huge jam, but struck out the batters to end the innings both times! I love this dude

Just so you all know, the Mets are really not as bad as they looked last night. Honest.

Yeah mon, Jon Lester has the early makings of some good things to come. He didn't have very good control last night, but kept his composure and pitched himself out of some tight spots. I'm liking him so far. :)

Im glad Francona didn't take him out during those situations, because it would have ruined his confidence.
Just imagine when Lester get his control. He's walking a lot of people, but nobody cares since he's winning. Wonder how good he'll look once he stop walking so many people.
For those wanting a Pedro v.s Schilling match up. Hey, I think Glavine and Schilling match-up is just as good. Old timer against old timer. Pedro not old timer just yet, but just about there. Plus, the old Red Sox ace against the, we hope, the future ace of the Red Sox. Looks good to me. :D

I really hope I can catch tonights game on television. Sportsnet keeps showing Freakin Toronto. Although they do show a lot of Toronto games, I got to give them credit for showing some Red Sox games when they play other teams instead of Toronto. But I don't know about tonight.

It would be kinda nice to see Milledge catch a ball out there in LF;)
Holy smokes, I dont think I've seen that much of a mess in the OF in awhile.. He looks like a little leaguer out there:hmm:

Boston up 8-0 after 3 innings. What's going on? When they scored 4 runs in the first innings I told myself "Pedro's doing it on purpose."
