You guys hear his post game comments? He didn't care at all about losing. He was just happy we still love him. Sounds like he wishes he was still here.

I really think we should have signed him that year. The management weren't fair at all with him. Imagine, if they would have kept him they would have; Pedro, Schilling, probably would have still gotten Beckett, Wakefield and the way its looking Lester.

I think Pedro realizes now though, that he would not have done very well in the AL...he's getting older, he doesn't have the stuff he had in 99, and he would have gotten knocked around a LOT if he were still playing for the sox.

Yeah I don't know about that. We are the only team that he has struggled with. He beat the Yankees easily. Pedro is still a great pitcher.

I will agree he's still a good pitcher, but I think he did the right thing moving on to the NL...there are a lot of good AL lineups, and he definately wasn't as dominant as he once was. I guess we'll never know...he had one bad year (bad for his standards anyway) for the sox, and it could have been a fluke. But in the NL he can totally dominate, whereas he would have had a much more difficult time in the AL, imo.

Oh yeah, I agree his life is much easier in the NL. I hate to beat a dead horse, but the NL isn't just bad, it's virtually unable to compete against the AL.

Boston, Chisox, Tigers, and Twins are 51-6 against the NL. 51-6!!!!!!!!!!!

It's cyclical. The AL has more bigger market teams, and they spend more, therefore, they have better players.

take the mets and the yankees though...same market, yet the yanks have, up until recently, totally controlled the market. does that come down to just bad business on the met's part? poorly constructed teams? because I know the mets spent a lot of money as well.

and what about teams like the Athletics? they are definately not big market teams, but they make it work.

Sure the Mets spend, I said in general, most of baseball's high payrolls are in the AL. Most Front office talent is in the AL too.

ok...I'm just trying to figure things out :) front office talent is definately important, so that does make sense.

yep. and remember, the mets spent for years, and sucked for years because they spent unwisely. kinda like the cubs the past coupla years. sure, theyve had 95 million payroll, but giving guys like glendon and neifi 3 mil a piece isnt doing things wisely.
