They'll lose in 6 Games in the ALCS to either the Tigers, White Sox, or Twins.

You look at it and Boston might get wiped out by the Wild Card team, because it will likely come out the AL Central and wild card can't play the division champion, so Sox likely get knocked out in the first round, unless Schilling and Beckett out duo Buerhle/Contreras, Rodgers/Bonderman/Verlander or Liriano/Satana.

Not looking good here. I would like Smoltz in Boston, but heck, the playoff look letal this year.

You've gotta make it to the playoffs first ;).

Honestly, I can't see the Tigers playing this way the second half. They're like the Orioles of last year. They're going to lose it and I think the Yankees and the Sox will be the AL East/Wild Card teams (like always). If the Wild Card comes from the AL Central I'll eat my words; I'm looking at a collapse for the Tigers.

My only concern with the Tigers would be if one of their best pitcher, Rogers, doesn't flater during the second half. Happen last year, happen the previous year. If he remain good, then I think the Tigers have a good chance to win the division and make it to the playoff.

Their bullpen look good. Their offense has not been over-powering, but it get the job done. Their rotation look good from top to bottom.

None of that could be said about the O's of last year. I was on the O's bandwagon last year, but the O's lived by the bat and they did not have a proven veteran leading their rotation. The Tigers have that and also have two other very impressive looking pitcher in Bonderman and Verlander. Don't forget about Miner and Robertson at the back end of their rotation. That O's team did not have that while the Tigers of this year does have that team.

Don't forget the Twins, who just might have the best 1-2 combination in MLB in Santana and Liriano, with a bullpen to back them up. They also have that power bat they been lacking with Morneau.

It's no fluke. The Yankees and Sox are not dealing with teams that were pretenders like the O's were last year. These teams have great pitching. The O's had great offense last year, but their rotation was questionable. Look at the Twins, White Sox, Tigers and even the Jays rotation, all those teams have just as good or better rotation than the Sox and Yankees.

At the moment, it's safe to say the Yankees have the worst rotation of the six teams.

I can't see the Yankees or the Toronto Blue Jays making it to the playoffs this year, it's going to be a tossup between the 3 Central Teams and the Western Division...nobody there is good enough to even compete with the Central or East.

I'm not saying that the O's and Tigers are identical teams, I'm just saying I think they will have a similar result in the second half. But I'm usually wrong so...

I don't see the Tigers falling off at all. I actually think they will win the division outright. Their pitching was already mentioned about how deep they are, but they still need a proven closer. Maybe Zumaya can step into that role. The Sox will win the East simply because they don't any competition in my opinion. They Yanks have a terrible staff and are wounded deeply. The Jays are still trying to get better, I don't see them there yet.

With that being said, I have not been right on one prediction yet this year, so this is not very likely.

The Tigers are most certaintly not like the Orioles last year. They have good pitching that will stay good, and a quality offense and good pitching. Tigers >>>>>>>>>Orioles fo' sho'

Blue Jays need AJ Burnett to step it up and be the number 2 they paid him to be. Right now, Halladay carrying the load on the pitching side. A case could be made for Lilly being their number 2 at the moment. Nothing against Lilly, but he's no number 2 pitcher.

Of course improved offense has been doing what was expected and Ryan, unknown to most people, has been as dominating as Papelbon out of the Blue Jays' bullpen sporting an ERA under 1 just like like Papelbon. Ryan, still not worth that much cash, because he pitches one inning, is at least earning his money still unlike AJ.

If AJ step it up, then I'll worry about the Blue Jays.

I've voiced my views on New York. As I have said, they're not done, but looking at their team, their chances for the playoff are not as high as previous years, especially with the WC likely coming from AL Central.

Todd Jones is a proven closer and despite being questionable many times this year has knocked down 20 plus saves. Though, Zumaya or Rodney should get a shot at the closer role if Jones continue to be shaky. That ERA of 6 plus just dooesn't look good.

Remember Sox's winning streak? How many games they gain on New York during that time? Answer that question and you'll understand not to count NY despite having a injuried plague team and, by all stat, a horrible rotation outside Mussina and Wang.

I'll be a little more confident if Mussina went down or return to Mussina of recent years. Of course, Johnson or Wang might step up and become their ace. Hey, don't forget their Yankees. Also, they just find ways to win. Remember Aaron Small? :duh:

The O's never had the pitching that the Tigers have this year. I believe the WC will come out of the AL Central too and the yanks won't make the playoffs. The Sox are in much better shape and both teams have things to worry about. Namely pitching and the yanks don't have any trade bait in the farm.

Royce

The White Sox are only up on the Yankees 7 games in the Wild Card...There's, what, 82 games left? 7 games isn't that huge of a hole. The Yanks also play Chicago 6 times in the second half. All it takes is one streak for a team to falloff or take a lead. Same can be said for the Jays and Twins

They sure did a good job of finding a way to win the ALCS in 2004.

The Red Sox are playing without David Wells or Matt Clement(thank god on this one).

Once Wells comes back, Boston will be stronger, no more Kyle Snyder crappiness.

Red Sox will make the postseason, the Wild Card will be out of the central, and the Evil Empire will sit at home and cry into their 200 million dollar payroll while Steinbrenner hopefully sells the team.

David Wells is 43. Not sure it's safe to say the Sox are strong with a 43 pitcher, who might get re-injuried in his first start and might not even pitch like he did last year. Not being pessimistic, just realistic.

David Wells is old. :)

Despite the White Sox's woe, there's still the Twins with Liriano and Santana in the Central. I still found it funny everyone was just saying "WC coming out the Central." Though, I never expected the White Sox to fall a part. I was expecting the Tigers to come more down to earth.
