Hard for me to really disagree with any of the grades the guy gave out.
So, Princess, tell me I'm crazy for thinking Papelbon is the Sox' MVP so far.

Can't. I agree 100%. Without Paps we are in 4th place. The Red Sox are 47-1 when leading after 8 innings. Paps has 26 saves. 26 games woulda been up for grabs.
Agreed. The thing that I dont understand is all these putz keep calling WEEI and asked when they will put Pap as a starter. I have always been a big believer of "if it aint broke, dont try to fix it". But I also think that alot of other people deserve more credit, Lorretta, Lowe and Youks. And not to mention Gonzo. We have the best fielding percentage in the majors. Who would have ever thought a power house like the Sox can actually be defensively tough??
Btw, welcome back PP!!!! :wavey2:

Call me nuts, but I think the C- for Tavarez is too harsh. He's been pitching much better as of late and has had some very good appearances. He did get off to a rocky start, but he seems to have settled in. I'd give him a B-.
Check out his last 10 appearances. 4 ER in 18 innings. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/5103

Speaking of Papelbon, he's getting mentions for ROY, Cy Young, and MVP. I am not saying he's going to win those three awards, I'm just stating that he's in the discussions. That's way more than any Sox fan could have possibly imagined at the start of the season.

because in a good world, he would be a starter. his stuff is too good to be a bullpen guy. but next year or in 2008 he should be the starter.
230 IP is better than 75.
but in no way should he be moved this year since no one else is capable.

I dunno Ray. Paps may be more valuable as a closer. Lord knows we need one. They have been stretching out Hansen. My guess is Hansen starts next year and Paps stays as closer, but who knows?

I'm glad to see Mark Loretta returning to his team MVP type form. He had a tough season last year with his thumb injury. It's nice to see a good guy doing so well.
Isn't Ortiz your team's MVP though?

Tough call. It's a tossup really. I voted Papelbon only because without his ability to shut down games, Ortiz big hits are useless.:(
