I found this blown save by Trevor to be one of the most weird situations I've seen from the man who has been unbelievable this season. Trevor blew a save?
To get down to the last strike and give up not only the tying run but also the game winner on National TV was extraordinarily painful for a Padre fan  to watch but at the same time... I'll take his 4 saves in as many days just before the break as that is more important to my Padres remaining 8 games above .500 and in first place in the NL West.
The game was great fun to watch until that 9th inning, especially afterwards when Trevor blew the save and Mariano came in to save it for the A.L. I was having '98 flashbacks and it wasn't pretty.

Tough one. I had that breif thought that if anyone would get it done vs Trevor it would be Glaus. Seen him last year a bit with both being in the NL West and such. But man I didnt think he would blow the save like that.
To bad and I hope people dont remember this as a mark against one of the best to ever take the ball.

What ticked me off was John Kruk and Harold "do I KNOW anything about baseball" Reynolds saying over and over again how they saw all the power pitching and just waited on Trevor's "junk". :eviltongu WHAT? Since when does Trevor throw junk?
Funny how noone on Sportscenter or Baseball Tonite mentioned that Trevor just came off of saving 4 consecutive saves in as many days...the first time ever in his career! :nope: It's that East Coast bias again... :duh:

To bad and I hope people dont remember this as a mark against one of the best to ever take the ball. The problem is that too many people will judge the man's career by that one inning in a frekin' exhibition :hmm: Ask people who are, oh, no older than about their early 40s what they remember most about Willie Mays, and many will tell you they remember him as that old man who fell down in centerfield trying to make a catch for the Mets.
I felt pretty bad for Hoffman. The outcome in this game usually doesn't mean a darn thing to me. Maybe I wanted the NL to win more this time because Skippy Garner was managing the team. But for a guy like Hoffman, who's had such a beautiful career and has always struck me as a good guy, to go down in that way, that really tugged at my heart for some reason. Maybe I'm just softening up in my old age?
Nah! I'm still a crotchety old fart :D

Willie, you ain't kiddin! I thought I would check out a few fan forums although I promised myself I wouldn't :Wow: and couldn't believe the pure venom for Trevor Hoffman. He's had such a great first half, probably the best of the NL Closers which is why Garner felt sure in bringing him in and yet, all people talk about is how he lost the World Series home field advantage and costing MVP awards in an exhibition game :notme: I just don't get it!
Like I said, the guy has given his all for the Padres and as long as he continues to do so, I have no problem with the slip up in the ASG. Sure, I would have LOVED it, if he saved the game. But if that's his only slip up for the next 3.5 months, I'll take it!
So many people believe that the Padres will not win the Division title, let alone get to the playoffs, and yet, the Padres pitching staff and bullpen are one of the top ranked staffs. Their offense is coming around ever so slowly but unless you watch this team day in and day out, how can anyone make a judgement of "they're not going to make it"!
The NL West is a very tough division this season, all the teams look to be relatively evenly matched, like the NL East was last season until the Braves pulled away.
:notme: I just don't understand the pure venon that I am seeing. I guess we'll see what happens in the 2nd half.
GO TREVOR GO!

One thing is for sure I know the Rockies are going to see a ton more of the Pods and I hope we keep NOT seeing Trevor. Because this is one Rockies fan that knows when Trevor walks in the game it is over.
