.... I got home a little late. It's now bottom of the 2nd, score 0 all, 1 out, nobody on.

Top of the 2nd, the bases were loaded, with one out, Rey came up and took a huge swing to strike out.

Then Shawn Estes came up and struck out looking.

Okay, end of the 2nd, Shawn gets 'em. There was a great catch by Jeromy in right field and man, did he smack up against that wall. Ouch.

Allrighty. I'm afraid I have to go running now.:uhoh: ... I have to get a run in, and it's a gorgeous day.... so I hafta do it.... I just hafta.

BUT I'LL BE BACK!!!! :2guns:

Nanner

Allrighty. I haven't gone yet. I had to see what the Mets did. I should never have turned this on.:hmm:

.... and the Mets did nothing. Speedy Roger got on 1st, and then Timo hit into a DP, and then Robbie took it deep but it was grabbed by some Cub in .... um.... somewhere in the outfield.

Okay. Now I'm going.

Nanner

I'M BACK!

And here we have the Mets leading 1-0 in the bottom of the 7th. I have to watch my tape to see who scored. Shawn Estes has been having a good game up until I walked back in the door and started watching, and he then walked 2 batters - his first of the day.:uhoh: :hmm: ... it's me. I know it's me. 0 outs, and now two balls, two strikes to Fred McGriff.

COME ON, SHAWN!!! GET OUTTA THIS!!!

Oh, man. Fielding. Dang. Ball is hit to Mark Johnson who makes a bad throw to Rey, to make the force at 2nd, and now the bases are loaded.

:ohno:

Pitching change.

Poor Shawn.

Nanner

Aargh. Cubs score 2.

David Weathers pitching.

Alex Gonzalez singled and Patterson scored.

Todd Hundley hit a sac fly to right and Fred McGriff scored.

Top of the 8th.

New pitcher for Cubs.

Cedeno... out. I can't remember how.

Joey McEwing in for Timo. (Was Timo playing centerfield today in place of Jay?)

Full count on Joey.

Struck 'im out. Chased a breaking ball.

Dang.

So here's Robbie Alomar. He's .500 against this pitcher Passarro

WHOA!!!!!! HOMERUN!!!!! HELLO, ROBBIE ALOMAR!!!!

Nanner
04-10-2002, 05:44 PM
ROBBIE ALOMAR OWNS JEFF PASSARRO!!! THAT WAS HIS 3RD HOMERUN AGAINST HIM!!!

That was exciting!!!

HOMERUN!!!!! MIKE PIAZZA!!!!! WHOOOHOOOO!!! :jump: :jump2: :clap1: :dancin:

Nanner
04-10-2002, 05:47 PM
MAN!!!

That happened right in the middle of me trying to find superlatives for Robbie Alomar!

Two huge homeruns off Passaro (or however you spell it.) They were beauties too.

WHEEEEEEE!!!

Fonzie's at the plate now.

He pops up for the 3rd out.

METS LEAD!!!! 3-2

Nice inning.

Bottom of the 8th.

One Cubbie out on a fly ball to Jay in center (just came into the game)

Second Cubbie out on a bunt and Mikey gets it and throws 'im out at first.

Pitching change. Mark Guthrie coming in to pitch to the battah in front of Sammy Sosa.... can't remember who it is, it happened so fast.

Mark Guthrie pitching to Corey Patterson.... that's the guy's name. Corey Patterson.

Uh-oh. Mark walked Corey Patterson.

Sammy Sosa coming to the plate. Yikes.

Whoa. Little Scotty Strickland gets the call to pitch to Sosa. So we have a commercial as he comes in.

Nanner
04-10-2002, 06:01 PM
Scott "I May Look Like I'm 14 But I Throw in the 90's" Strickland pitches to Sammy Sosa.

Call now 2-2 as Sosa swings over a breaking ball.

AND HE GOES DOWN SWINGING!!! SIT DOWN SAMMY SOSA.

Whoa. I love this Scott Strickland.

:uhoh:

Where was Benitez?? Isn't a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the 9th exactly the reason that a team HAS a closer???

Nanner
04-10-2002, 06:10 PM
Jeromy Burnitz at the plate.

I think I love his swing. He's sort of got a swing like Robin Ventura... kind of nice and easy and graceful. Sometimes we see those big swings when we shouldn't, :hmm: - but it's sort of a pretty swing.

So Jeromy walks.

Pitching change to a right hander.

And Bobby V. puts in John Valentin for Mark Johnson.

Dang. Burnitz caught stealing.

Poop.

Oh.

if that was the bottom of the 9th.. and the mets were leading 3-2... then what are you doing?? Are you making this all up??

Nanner
04-10-2002, 06:16 PM
Okay.

Still Top of the 9th

Valentin is on 1st, but I don't know how that happened, because Shawn was calling me on my typo.:eviltongu

So Rey-Rey hits it softly and is out but advances Johnny V to 2nd, and Tony Tarasco steps to the plate! YAAAY!!! I LIKE TARASCO!!!

GaryMrMets
04-10-2002, 06:17 PM
Tony Tarasco is now pinch hitting. He was brought up from Norfolk today when they optioned McKay we hardly knew you Christensen to Norfolk.

STOP THAT!!! YOU'RE GETTING ME CONFUSED!!!

:eviltongu

I changed it! I typed Bottom of the 9th, but I meant Bottom of the 8th!:hmm:

So, now, anyway, the Top of the 9th is ovah, as Tony Tarasco flies out to Sammy Sosa in right.

GaryMrMets
04-10-2002, 06:18 PM
Now strolling to the mound to pitch the bottom of the 9th, Armando Benitez.

Nanner
04-10-2002, 06:23 PM
Yes, it's now the bottom of the 9th.

Pops up the first Cubbie to Fonzie.

Score is still 3-2, Mets, bottom of the 9th.

I see I'm going to have to be very specific for Shawn.:hmm:

Please, 'Mando. Just set them down 1-2-3. I don't need an ulcer this early in the season.:hmm:

Dang. A double.... Alex Gonzalez.

Poop.

GaryMrMets
04-10-2002, 06:23 PM

Delino Deshields pinch hitting for the Cubs pitcher, and a pick off play to 2nd base gone wild, now the tying run is on 3rd.

04-10-2002, 06:27 PM
well nanner.. you have to admit there is a big difference between the bottom of the 8th and the bottom of the 9th.. for a moment there, i was all excited because the Mets had won.. only to have my dreams crushed to find out that they really hadn't

oh wait. allow me to rephrase...

I was excited because the Cubs had LOST.. not because the mets had won.

Nanner
04-10-2002, 06:29 PM
F*CK!!!!!!!

Why, oh, why, oh why did he try that. Armando tries to throw Gonzalez out at 2nd and it goes way over Rey's head. Gonzalez goes to 3rd.

Okay.

Whew.

Delino DeShields flies out to left.

GAME OVAH!!!!! METS WIN!!!! 3-2!!!!!

YIPPEEEEEEE!!!

Yes. I said "yippee". Wanna make something of it?
