So, it now appears our 3rd starter is hurt. If Wake has to miss a significant amount of time we are toast.

How bad can our luck be? Losing 3 freakin starters? Okay, 2. Matt Clement doesn't really count as a real starter. :D

According to the Globe, Wake has a broken rib. Not good. Could be a long DL stint. :Puter:

Schilling, Beckett and Lester? That's just not good.

I hope the Sox don't jump the gun and trade for a pitcher, who likely won't be better than Jason Johnson.

I saw that on the bottom line yesterday. I literally said outloud "Ouch! There goes the Sox season."

There's a rumor, on boston.com, that they've been talking to the Padres in trading Mike Lowell for a pitcher!! The PItcher better be DAMN good, maybe Peavy.

Sorry, Blue, but Peavy is untouchable. He won't be traded anywhere :nope: and especially since the Pads are in first place (barely).

See thread "Trade Rumor" for what I said about the Pads. Basically, though, the Padres are not going to give up any of their starters. There is a possibility of Young going on the DL and if that happens, the Pads need starting pitching. They have some good young arms in AAA to take his place for a bit.

Red Sox should probably look elsewhere although I wouldn't mind Lowell on the Pads. I have always liked his glove and bat.

Peavy for Lowell would be as awful of a trade as the Reds and Nationals deal earlier this month. :laff:

Of course, as a Sox fan, I won't mind the Padres making that move. ;)
