As you guys know, my home computer is still down, so I need someone to keep the trade news going on in here for us. I can't believe I won't be able to post this weekend!
Please post any news. Anyone. Thanx.:)

I'll post what I find.
Apparently that whole Lowell for Peavy thing was a crock, unfortunately. We would have sacrificed some defense for a great young pitcher having a bad year.

Lidle and Leiber have been mentioned plenty of times, Nixon may be moved, but I doubt Boston pulls any crazy moves, like landing Willis or even Zito.

They want Hughes (or other top prospects) for Leiber from us even though supposedly we'd pick up his entire salary, same with Abreu.
Does Pat Gillick have any idea what he's asking for? Asking for Hughes for Abreu when it's obvious Abreu a salary dump, which mean you won't get the same amount of talent for Abreu. Who would want that salary, including that ridiculous option and give up their top prospect(s)?
Lieber and Lidle stink. Lieber has lose velocity on his pitches while Lidle a journeyman pitcher, who took a shot at Barry Bonds earlier this season. That was the highlight of Lidle's career. Two worthless pitchers that nobody should give up top of the line prospect for. I sure hope neither of them end up on the Sox.
So far the only interesting rumor I heard would be the Sox's interest in Rockies' Ryan Shealy. Otherwise, I hope no deal happens with the Phillies since they got junk beside the young players, who are not moving.

pena play center field? I dunno about that. He doesn't really have great speed to catch up to balls like crisp does.
How good is his defense anyway? I've seen him play like 3 times in the outfield.

Why would the Red Sox do that, Buerhle has been TERRIBLE recently.

He actually played quite a few games in CF while Crisp was down earlier this season and he did a solid job out there. RF in Fenway is the toughest RF in all of MLB. Pena looked silly out there this year and don't think he'll get better. Pena's defense is not great or good, but for the type of bat you expect him to have. Plug him into CF and you might get average fielding from him there.

If you thought Manny was bad as an outfield, then you don't want to see Pena play out there every game.

I doubt it'll happen but what about landing a pitcher like Maddux? too old? What about Miguel Batista? Too unconsistant in the AL? Livan Hernadez, Tony armas jr??

I read somewhere today that Pittsburgh asked about Youkilis, like thats going to happen.

He's bad enough in the NL. Let's not even discuss how bad he'll be in the NL.
Livan Hernadez got nothing. Just like the rest of the pitchers you mention.
Like everyone said, there's nothing good out in the market. Since it's supply and demand, teams are asking for a ridiuclous amount of players in return for these medicore level pitcher. No thanks, I rather go with medicore pitchers in organization. At least that won't cost us prospects.

Red Sox acquired Bryan Corey from the Rangers.
BOSTON -- As Red Sox Nation gears up for a potential blockbuster deal leading up to Monday's 4 p.m. ET trade deadline, general manager Theo Epstein made a much quieter transaction on Sunday, acquiring right-handed reliever Bryan Corey from the Rangers for right-handed prospect Luis Mendoza.
Corey was designated for assignment on July 25 so that the Rangers could clear a roster spot for Adam Eaton.
After being recalled from Triple-A on June 9, Corey, 32, put up solid numbers. In 16 outings, he was 1-1 with a 2.60 ERA. Over 17 1/3 innings, Corey registered 13 strikeouts and allowed 15 hits.
"I got my first win [at Fenway] and got my first loss there. I'm excited," Corey said. "I'm going to miss it here. But they're excited to have me. I really wanted to stay in this [playoff race] atmosphere."
To make room for Corey on the 40-man roster, the Red Sox shifted Matt Clement to the 60-day disabled list.

The Reds made 2 moves so far this morning. They traded Justin Germano for Rheal Cormier. They also picked up Lohse from the Twins for Zach Ward. I hope they did not make a mistake by giving Ward up for a sub par pitcher. Ward was tearing up in the minors.

1 more reliever
1 solid starter
We got a reliever to replace Tavarez( I hope)
Why haven't they traded Clement/Foulke? Maybe everyone hates them as much as I do. Those 2 need to go.

are you kidding blue? clemens' ERA is like 2.02 or something! even if his era takes a hit in the AL, it would still be 3.00ish realistically. I would take him for sure.

It sounds to me like a lot of the Sox fans are getting too worried too soon. Your pitching may not be great, but your hitting is. You have 3 solid starters which is what you will need in the post season. And don't forget you still have Ortiz. He can carry a team with his bat. He has done it before and can do it again. They are still my pick to come out of the American league. I would like to see a repeat of the '75 series.

Clement  Wells--hurt too many times, Snyder  Johnson  If we don't win this division we may say goodbye to the playoffs. Then again there's the waiver deals.

milky, don't forget the Twins.
I find it funny most Sox fans are saying the Sox are done, because V-tek down. How about we act that way if Mann or Ortiz went down since their offense would be a gaping hole in our line-up.
Main problem at the moment is how awful the bullpen been lately. Hansen let the game out of hand again. That's one of the major problems in recent weeks. Heck, Jason Johnson did ok by going 5.2, basically 6 innings, and allowing 3 runs. Can't ask more than that for the six starter.

apparently the sox were in talks with just about everyone, trying to get a major deal going. Like...seriously everybody! but everyone was asking for lester and hansen, and papelbon, and the sox, correctly, said screw that.
I'd rather we make no trades now than mess up our club for the cuture. because lester, hansen, delcarmen, papelbon...all these guys are gonna be amazing really soon. lester has already shown it, so has papelbon. these guys are our future, and we shouldnt trade them away just so we can maybe win this year.
