if the sox get in, hes gotta be hands down the MVP. used to think thome would deserve it, but papi has so many big hits (and thome has been slumping too).

wtf.
:lmao:
I remember a number of weeks ago Ortiz hit a walkoff homer off a relatively young pitcher whom Ortiz had never faced. Jerry Remy said something along the lines of: "You wonder what these guys are thinking. Ortiz completely owns these fastballs inside, but maybe the pitcher said to himself: Oh, but he hasn't seen MY fastball yet" :laff:

I was watching on ESPN and as soon as that 1-0 pitch was called a ball (close pitch), I was like F***.

let's not forget Kyle Snider's shutout 4 plus innings after wells failed in the 5th.
that was damn impressive too, keeping the sox in the game.

The thing with Ortiz is that now it's come to the point where we're not surprised when he does this. It also doesn't help when you throw a fastball out over the plate. ;)

it's not the redsox' fault that pitchers don't know Ortiz owns fastballs.

Don't these pitchers ever learn? Well, the longer it takes for them to learn, the better.

You mean they should have walked Ortiz, loading the bases, and pitched to Manny who is 2nd all time in career grand slams?

THAT would have been genius.

honestly though, I'd take my chances with Manny at this point. manny's a great hitter, but he is not as clutch as Ortiz is. He has a tendency to ground into double plays in those situations.
