what did everyone think about his outing?

He gave up 8 runs, going 4 2/3rds. His control was off at times, but he also had some good moments, getting a few 1,2,3 innings.

All in all, for me, the 8 runs is a little worrying, but I'm mostly encouraged by this start. I think he's only gonna get better, and he showed flashes of how good he can be during the game.

He needs to go deeper into games, obviously...6th, 7th, or 8th innings. But considering we've had to deal with snyder and Johnson going basically 5 innings recently, anything over 5 is good, as long as he's not giving up 6 runs a game.

others? thoughts? comments? rants? ;)

Last night was, in essence, a rehab start. I really didn't expect him to go beyond five innings anyway. I'm just thrilled that the Sox managed to win last night.

I actually think he's going to help us down the stretch. :)

 I agree! I mean, shit, he can't be any worse than jason johnson, right? (oh god, he's starting tonight :( )

I didn't expect him to go the distance or to have his best stuff either, but he will improve, hopefully he'll stay healthy. I really liked the way Snyder pitched last night, I think long relief is what he's made for instead of a starter.

No offense but there's no bright spots in giving up 8 runs. He didn't look like the Wells of old at all. His curveball was absolute garbage last night.

you're right, 8 runs sucks, but he hasn't pitched in a long, long time. next start will be big for him.
