The Rockies acquired pitchers Jeremy Affeldt and Denny Bautista from Kansas City for right-handed reliever Scott Dohmann and slugging minor league first baseman Ryan Shealy, who was stuck behind Todd Helton in Colorado.
Well this trade isnt as bad as I thought it would be....... Affeldt has stepped up and been solid so far and did some good for the Rockies.
Isnt Bautista a fairly hard throwing guy? I just dont know anything about him.
Nice to see Ryan step up already and start to pound the ball for the Royals. He does need to start and should be a force for the Royals.

Hopefully Affeldt can do for y'all what he never could for the Royals. I'm just glad Shealy went to a team the Astros won't have to face more than a few times every three years or so.

I was thinking the Astros should have been all over Shealy. They need that bat and he would have been able to get him. But I am excited to see him play every day now.

I was really suprised that the Rockies traded Sheally, especially for who they got in return. I realize he was trapped behing Helton, but I thought maybe they could get some better players in return.
Batista is a former Marlin farmhand and yes, he throws hard. Unfortunately he's not been that good and I'm really suprised the Rockies wanted him.
Affeldt CAN be good, but the empasis is on CAN. I can't imagine, with or wothout the humidor that Affeldt could pitch better in Coors, but then again maybe playing for a contending team has and will invigirate him.
PEACE

They have been trying to trade Ryan for the past two years. So with the pen coming apart this offer is the one that knocked them over. Affeldt so far has been solid for the Rockies. But Hurdle dont want to use him. Instead he is using guys that cant find the strike zone.

Go figure Hurdle about has to use Affeldt last night because of blowing out the rest of the guys the few nights before and guess what. Ya he comes in and does his job with the bases loaded helps get out of the jam and the Rockies win.
So I guess that means we wont see him for a week or so now. I guess that is the plan. Lose 3 to 4 so you can win one.

You mentioned something about the Astros and Shealy. I wouldn't have minded that, but he'd have Berkman blocking him at 1B now in Houston. Don't think Berkman is going to be roaming outfields much in the future.

Ya I was wondering what was going to happen with Berkman and if he could go back to the outfield. If would have been a great move for the Stros if he could have.
I dont really like the deal for Ryan but hell it was the best they was going to get. They have been trying to trade him for 2 years now and even tried moving him to the outfield. But nothing was working so I was expecting a deal like this.
