The Padres didn't look horrible but there were many problems in this series to bite the Padres...

Need to get Todd Walker hitting. The guy has been fine defensively considering he hasn't played there in so long. But we got him for his bat, so I am expecting more from him offensively.

Greene going down with an injured finger... well what is new when it comes to Greene and injuries? :notme: Geoff Blum has played a nice SS though

Bochy was playing too much for the big inning, a mistake I think he made in the playoffs last year. You can't expect to get a big inning against good pitching. It doesn't happen. But Bochy doesn't play small ball and that has been a long time criticism.

Dave Roberts had a miserable series against Mets pitching and the Padres do NEED him to start the offense.

Positives: Woody pitched well, Hensley got stronger as he pitched and managed to hold down that potent offense in the latter part of his outing. Chris Young walked 6 today and still only managed to give up 3 runs. So as much as the Mets have an amazingly talented lineup, the Padres pitching held up pretty well. Brocail today had a hiccup but he's been so good up until today, since recovering from two bypass surgeries.

Like last season, the Padres offense was almost non-existent. This has got to change because the Padres are only going to see good pitching from now on and can't rely on 3run HRs to get back into a game!

Loved listening to the Padre announcers' take on the great reception both Mikes got at Shea. Jerry Coleman, Ted Leitner, Matt Vasgersian, Mark "Mud" Grant all were amazed at the reception. As a former northeast baseball fan living on the VERY laid back West Coast, it's hysterical to hear the reactions these guys have to such "rabid" fans. Nothing but compliments for the Mets, their fans and even the Stadium itself. :laff:

I'm just glad the Padres are leaving the East Coast and hoping that the Padres won't have to play such a tough Mets team in Oct  At least the Padres showed they can play with good teams. But they have to start to win some of these games too.
