PDA

View Full Version : FYI - It's "Pads" not "Pods"

Every once in awhile I see "Pods" and I realize that they've seen it from the East Coast. As we are close to the Mexican border, half of San Diego speaks fluent Spanish and then there are some of us who speak muy pequito espanol but enough to get around.

As such the shortened version of Padres is "Pads" but somewhere along the line some NY writer (as has been reported here) wrote "Pods" so people from the East Coast thinks it's "Pods".

Personally I may have written it as "Pods" once or twice but it never looked right to me. And now I know where I saw "Pods".

Just wanted to clarify this. :D

As long as they don't write 'Puds,' y'all should be ok ;)

For a minute or so,I thought that Scott Podsednik got traded to the Mets.:eek:

See, that's why I had to make the distinction. "Pods" is Podsednik and "Pads" are my Padres. :laff:

You know.......I always wondered why you wrote Pods, when it should have been Pads but I just figured it was just your own flair. You know flair right? Such as in Office Space when Jennifer Anniston is accused of not having enough flair on her uniform.......

Padres = Pads.

FYI, never confuse a White Sox with a Pad.

I didn't write Pods River, others did. I might have once in awhile. But for the most part, I wrote "Pads". :)

Good to seee you around. Spend more time here, will ya? Bring some friends. :clap2:

That would be pronounced "päds" as opposed to p(short a)ds, right? Otherwise the Padres (Päds) would become confusing with something a woman uses once a month [p(short a)ds] or something you take notes on.

Yeah, you're not the first person that I have seen say that.

Actually, the "a" proununciation comes from the Spanish language where an "a" is prounounced much like our "o" in English. So good reason why Pods would be mistakenly used.

Now, I will step off of my soapbox....

You're kidding right? No one I know likes baseball. In fact, they think I'm nuts for being a fan. As for being around more, I am really, really burned out on message boards right now. Some people are just so mean spirited if you know what I mean and it gets old. I just check in occasionally now.
