Did anyone see how he hurt his shoulder? I didn't get to, but I heard it was pretty bad. Poor guy :( I hope he feels better soon!

He caught a ball running backwards, and kind of tumbled on it. Here's a picture of it just before he fell:

Anyone here of who, if anyone the team is looking at to replace him? Infante is good, but I really don't want just him starting at second, plus that eliminates a great bench player. Maybe a guy like Ty Wigginton.

Yeah, they called him up again, but he's never done anything when he's been up here. I would of rather seen them bring back up Tony Giattarano.

Having an important guy like Polanco go down stinks. he gets better quick for the Sept push! :D

I'm more worried about August. We still have 4 games against the White Sox, and 3 at New York. September is really against the AL west, Kansas City and Baltimore.

I think he's definately out for the rest of the year... it sucks. :( But hopefully we'll continue to strive on. Though lately we haven't been doing so well...

Ah phooey! I hate it when it's THOSE kinds of injuries. :(
The Tigers have been fun to watch. I'm sure Leyland though will keep the ship afloat.

3-8 weeks is a rough guess by the doctors.

The Tigers likely would be interested in veterans with postseason experience. That would describe Arizona's Craig Counsell and San Diego infielder Mark Bellhorn. -- Detroit Free Press

The Tigers don't appear close to acquiring an outside replacement for injured second baseman Placido Polanco, who might miss the rest of the regular season with a separated left shoulder. The non-waiver trade period ended July 31, meaning it will be more difficult for president and general manager Dave Dombrowski to add a player. -- Detroit Free Press
