Another Jets season and for some reason I feel like we're going to do well this year. I watched the game yesterday and Leon Washington looked good, Brad Smith looked good, and the rest of the guys looked good. This is the year!

Thanks for the welcome!:)
Yeah, I doubt they'll win the Super Bowl. I just put that to get this thread going. We've got a lot of rookies so in a couple years this could be a star team. We're rebuilding this team and one of these days we'll find it.

I thought the Jets had a good draft one of the best for them in years.
I like the pick up of Ramsey also. He is a QB that has had gone though a ton the past few years. Having to deal with the fun and gun joke in the NFL and a coach that cared more about his golf swing than the team. Then having to adjust to Gibbs after that. I like the kid and he has a arm that can sling that ball. Give him a chance and I think he could be a solid QB.
You guys found out your first round draft pick in the draft though this year. A running back. :D

Yeah, Ramsey could be a good QB. I like our running back a lot. He looked good against the Redskins on Sunday. Same with Leon Washington. He could be a really good WR. I agree with you, this was one of the Jets best drafts.

Former 49ers running back Kevan Barlow lashed out at Coach Mike Nolan and the direction of the franchise in a series of phone calls to the Contra Costa Times on Tuesday, two days after being traded to the New York Jets for a 2007 fourth-round draft pick. ``Nolan just doesn't know what he's doing. He's a first-time head coach with too much power,'' Barlow said from New York. ``He has too much power as a first-time head coach. He walks around with a chip on his shoulder, like he's a dictator, like he's Hitler. People are scared of him. If it ain't Nolan's way, it's the highway.'' Two phone calls later, Barlow softened his stance and blamed some of his statements on the emotional whirlwind he endured the previous 48 hours. ``I was kind of harsh on him, saying he's a dictator. That's bad. Saddam Hussein is a dictator,'' Barlow said three hours after his initial call. ``I was speaking on emotion.''

JETS HELPING OUT WITH WTC MEMORIAL(NOT REALLY FOOTBALL THOUGH)
WTC Memorial Foundation and the Jets Launch Advertising Campaign to Help Raise Money for World Trade Center Memorial
The World Trade Center Memorial Foundation and the New York Jets today Friday the team will launch a campaign to help raise funds to build the World Trade Center Memorial, donating over $300,000 in advertising time. Commercials featuring two of the Jets’ best known alums, Vinny Testaverde and Wayne Chrebet, will air before, during and after Jets games in August, September and October – reaching millions of sports fans in the tri-state area.
“The World Trade Center Memorial Foundation is proud to partner with the New York Jets to raise money to build the Memorial,” WTC Memorial Foundation Acting President Joe Daniels said. “In the wake of September 11th, professional sports such as football helped lift our spirits. When the football season resumed after 9/11 and the Jets secured their first victory that season over the Patriots, all New Yorkers were boosted by their win. Now, the Jets are helping New York once again by partnering with us to build the Memorial. We look forward to September 10th when thousands of Jets fans will hear the new commercials and gather in venues around the city to cheer their team and support the Memorial. We are grateful to Woody Johnson and the Jets for their generosity and to Vinny Testaverde and Wayne Chrebet for their support.”
“The World Trade Center Memorial will create a sacred place to reflect on the terrible events of September 11th, 2001, and provide a lasting tribute to all the innocent men, women and children who lost their lives,” Jets Owner Woody Johnson said. “But the Memorial will also celebrate the heroic efforts of so many who jeopardized their own safety to help others.”
Mr. Johnson continued, “Just as our nation and city came together as one to recover from the attacks, we must unite on the fifth anniversary and resolve to build a fitting, permanent memorial. I want to thank Vinny Testaverde and Wayne Chrebet for donating their time and effort to this important cause.”
“It is a great honor to be involved in the fundraising efforts for the World Trade Center Memorial,” Vinny Testaverde said. “As a New Yorker, I will never forget the events of that tragic day and the heroic efforts of our police officers, firefighters and countless others who worked so hard to save the lives of innocent victims.”

The Jets have until Saturday to determine Curtis Martin's status for the season. They have three options: Leave him on the physically-unable-to-perform list (meaning he would have to sit the first six games), put him on the 53-man roster or place him on season-ending injured reserve. Chances are, Martin, who hasn't practiced all summer, will remain on the PUP list. That will give him more time to rehabilitate his surgically repaired knee and evaluate his options.

There is one sure thing on the Jets' offense in Year One of the Eric Mangini regime: wide receiver Laveranues Coles. But Coles refuses to accept the notion that he is going to have to score a touchdown every time he touches the ball just to keep the Jets competitive this season. Asked if he believes -- as the biggest name on offense -- the pressure is on him to do superhuman things, he downplayed his role as the team's primary playmaker. "I don't think I have the biggest name on the offense," he said. "I think you have Chad (Pennington), who takes a lot of the pressure. Our quarterback position is one of the things that is being talked about right now. It's just one of those things, you come in and nothing is set in concrete around here. ... So you just go out and try to do what they ask you to do and from there, you just hope you're doing what they ask you to do and just shut up and just try to play."

Asked why he chose to name Chad Pennington yesterday (a team official had told The Star-Ledger four weeks ago that Eric Mangini already had settled on Pennington as the starter) Mangini said Pennington had a particularly impressive practice Monday that sealed the deal. "I was watching practice yesterday, and there was about five different situations that came up where he just made really smart, heady, good decisions," the coach said. "It was just clear at that point that this was the way to go." Pennington, who apparently has recovered enough from two surgeries on the rotator cuff of his right (throwing) shoulder, said the announcement wouldn't change his approach to practicing.

Jets RB Curtis Martin finds himself at an awkward crossroads, where his mind is not able to contemplate retirement and his body is not able to consider playing. “I wasn’t quite expecting that from the surgery that I’d still be talking about this,” Martin said. “But it’s happened. I’ve always been good at accepting what is. And it’s just something that is. Some things are out of your control. I’ve just been trying to do everything that is within my control to get out there as soon as possible.” Retirement, Martin said, was not on his agenda. “Whenever that happens, it happens,” he said. “My mind’s just not there.”

Jets are going 8-8. Which i am happy with, with such a terrible year last year.
Although, they need a new defense now, instead of a new offense. There run defense is terrible, and there running game isn't that good either. But anythings better then last year.
