I don't know what it is, but the Padres seem to be able to beat the Dodgers not only this season but besides last season, the Pads have been really tough.

Monday night, a Pre-Pad, Tim Stauffer who was an emergency call up last year was really last minute on Monday. Chan Ho Park was scratched at 11am for Monday's start because the intestinal bleeding re-occured. That is just awful too. I need to find out more info there.

But Stauffer was called at home at 11am, told him to catch a plane from Vegas (Portland was playing the AAA Dodger affiliate) and Stauffer arrived in SD at 5:30pm, at the ballpark at 6pm and in uniform and going over his pitches with a catcher he had never worked with in Piazza.

The dude flat out pitched his butt off in a game where the Padres played a division rival and try to gain back the lead in the divison! :cheer: :jump:  He allowed 2 runs in 6 innings pitched, got strike one over for the first pitch 85% of time and just shined! I really hope this kid continues to do well. He needed to develop another quality pitch which is why he didn't come back to the Padres this season. Now he not only looks great but we desperately need him.

Peavster, was his usual '04 and '05 self. 7 innings, ZERO runs, 3 hits, 1 BB, and 7Ks, :clap2: just brilliant. Even the back end, Linebrink came in the 8th and Hoffy in the 9th, it was GAME OVER! Padres win 1-0 for the second game and are creeping back up to the top. The Peavster, Liney and Hoffy though, could not have done it without Manny Alexander who started at Short to give Blum (filling in for Greene - DL) a night off. Manny too was just recently called up and I didn't expect any offense but he got a hit. Manny is expected to be more of a defender though and he came through last night. Reminded me of Game 3 in the '78 World Series when Graig Nettles (former Padre) became a human vacuum cleaner behind Ron Guidry. Just as Nettles made Guidry look amazing, Manny did the same for the Peavster. Also, word of note, former DRay, lefty Mark Hendrickson who struggled since becoming a Dodger, did give 6 innings, 1 run, 5 hit ball. He'll be a good acquisition for the Dodgers.

Fun game to watch!

Woody is up tonite and has really pitched great. I am very excited about tonite's matchup against Brad Penny. Both have almost the same ERA Woody is .03 points lower at 3.67.
