With the season in its last month for most teams what kind of moves do you think your team could, should or going to make?
Rockies trade Holliday? Twins pick up Hunts option? Bonds resigns with the Giants or gets black balled?
Give us your take!!!!

the biggest move the cubs need to make is lock in zambrano long term. give him a 4 year deal with an option year that kicks in if he meets incentives.
and give ramirez more money so he doesnt opt out of his contract and leave.
I also expect them to make a run at both schmidt and zito this offseason.

How about the manager there Ray. Is Baker baked? Who do they bring in? I was hearing they could go after Joe Girardi if the fish's owner is dumb enough to fire him.
But I would get Ramirez locked up ASAP because of the few 3rd basemen like him in the league.

i wouldnt doubt he does leave. Its gotten pretty ugly with him and Dusty probably doesnt want to deal with it. I can see him landing in Seattle and you know Florida is going to be dumb and get rid of girardi. They could do a lot worse than Girardi, IMO.
What I think the Sox are going to do is let A-Gone walk next season and go with Pedroia at SS. While I prefer the Sox sign A-Gone, I don't know if they will or won't.
Johnson, Foulke, Kapler, Nixon, J. Lopez and Timlin gone.
Johnson blows. Foulke blows and likely might want to close and I think it's obvious he doesn't want back in Boston. I think he'll leave mostly, because he doesn't like Boston. Kapler might be back and might not. He's goes all out when he plays, but we'll see what the Sox do. Nixon will get an offer, low offer, likely reject it leave. J. Lopez should retire and Timlin should retire and go out as a Sox.
Mirabelli, Loretta, Cora and Wakefield should be resigned or their options picked up. Mirabelli and Wakefield combination. Heard no hints about Wakefield retiring and think he's got a couple of good years in him. Loretta been good this year to be invited back. Cora one good bench player.
Signing? Not sure. Boston trade for catcher in the Wells deal to protect themselves in catcher if V-tek went down again next year. 1B should be fine with Youkillis. Loretta resign for 2B. Pedroia or/and A-Gone for SS. Lowell should be back at 3B. Manny being Manny again in RF. Crisp in CF. Pena in LF. Ortiz at DH. Sox major concern line in the rotation and bullpen.
Rotation next year should be Schilling, Beckett, Clement and Lester, depending how serious his injury is this year. Wakefield should be a part of this rotation if the Sox pick up his option. So, picking up Zito or Schmidt should be one of the goals for the Sox this off-season. At least making Lester or Clement the back-up starter should work. I believe Beckett should be better next season and won't be depend upon as badly if we got one of the big names of Zito or Schmidt.
Bullpen needs to be address, but no idea how's that going to shape up.

The Mets signed 2 key players already to long term contracts in Reyes and Wright...
Here are all the FA's that the Mets have after the season:
Edgardo Alfonzo
Chad Bradford
Jacob Cruz
Mike DiFelice
Cliff Floyd
Tom Glavine
Roberto Hernandez
Orlando Hernandez
Ricky Ledee
Jose Lima
Eli Marrero
Guillermo Mota
Darren Oliver
Kelly Stinnett
Steve Trachsel
Michael Tucker
Jose Valentin
Chris Woodward
*****************************************
I think Floyd is gone unless they can sign him cheap.. I think, assuming Glavine is healthy, they will sign him to at least another year...
I also think they will resign: Valentin, Oliver and Mota.... Maybe Trax....
Well, would Trax come back if the Mets land Zito or Schmidt? Here's an interesting name for you, John Smoltz, though I'll be shocked if the Braves did not pick up his option during the off-season.
Lima Time over in NY! :D

One guy I would love for the Rockies to sign is Tom Glavine. He has always had a good showing in Coors and he would be a great mentor for Jeff Francis.
For the Rockies with Holliday signing with Boras I was thinking that he might be traded this off season to make room for Ian Stewart. But Stewart didnt have the season this year that they wanted so I can see him getting a year in AAA. But it is going to come to Atkins or Holliday for the Rockies and the way Atkins is playing he will stay.....

Also to Kaz has been playing great for the Rockies. I can see him getting resigned by the Rockies also.
Three players with an ERA under 4, Durango. You think the Rockies would be in a better position in the standings than they are. But at least pitching isn't the problem for once for the Rockies.
Holliday the best player they have. It's quite depressing to see a player who spent his career with a team just leave the first chance he's going to get. You think Holliday leaving in the near future, Durango. FA in 06 or 07?
Honestly, the Rockies don't look like a bad team. They do to make minor improvements in certain departments. Barmes being nothing more than a fluke last year didn't help you out at SS, did it?

I hope the Reds resign Aurillia. He has played well enough to get asked back. He may not be a starter, but he will be a great backup and bench player. They also must see if Guardado is going to be able to go again next season. They have nobody on their roster or farm that I see as a closer. I hope they cut ties with Castro and Clayton. They are both free agents. They are both too old and have not played well enough to be brought back.
There is also a big controversy brewing in Cincy.Should they shut Homer Bailey down for the season or call him up for a playoff push. He is the only untouchable that I know of other than a SS I cant remember. He has been almost unhittable in AAA. They don't want to use up his arm because he is considered a lock for the starting rotation next season.

Well they need to do something because they are sliding and sliding fast.... I dint think a few starts in Sept will kill him...
Nice win last night btw:)

Pitching has been solid. They are still looking for that back end on the starting 5. Thought they might have had it with Fogg but he has fallen apart here the last two months. And Kim has done an ok job so if they could find a number 4 then that would be great. But Kim is also a FA after this year too.
I would say Atkins right now is the best player the Rockies have. He has just been solid all year long. Not many low points a few good runs but solid all year long. The Rockies have a young guy coming up named Ian Stewart that can play 3rd or the corner on the outfield. Many teams wanted to trade for him but the Rockies didnt trade him. Add the fact that Holliday has Boras as a agent and the lack of dealing with him in the Rockies I expect he will be the one traded or let go when he is a FA. At this point I wouldnt mind trading Helton for some pithcing and moving Stewart to 1st but that wont happen.
As for SS Barmes is just keeping it warm for someone. The Rockies draft only 1st basemen and SS. :D And then move them around. The farm system is stocked full of SS that have great futures. The Rockies just called up one from AA and think he is going the be the guy. Troy Tulowitzki is a big kid at 6'2" with a big swing and a big arm. He can make some great plays in the field and has a rocket for a arm. The Mets fans saw him for the first time this week and he made some great plays with the arm. He just has to get some AB's in and he will be solid I feel. He can take some compact swings to try to make contract and then he has a nice powerful swing that is going to send a ball flying when he does get ahold if it.
I Rockies bullpen fell apart there for a couple of months and that is what took this team out and killed them.

I can see the Astros going after Kip Wells. He's from Houston and they do like to bring back the home town boys: see Clemens, Roger and Pettitte, Andy. I feel like Clemens will come back for one last year, maybe something like he did this season (don't forget that his son Koby is in the organization). It's going to be interesting to see if Andy wants to return. I can see them signing him to a one or at the most 2-year contract. Roy is inked for at least 5 more years. Brandon Backe is done for the rest of this season as well as next year (Tommy John surgery:eek: ).
Nice thing about the Houston organization is that they have some great young arms waiting in the wings. We've gotten a taste of Matt Albers and Jason Hirsh this year and they could easily be fixtures in the rotation for a long time to come. Troy Patton is at AA and should be ready no later than 2008.
Woody Williams is another option. He would dearly love to come back home to finish off his career (another Houston boy), it's just a matter of whether or not the Astros want to meet his asking price. He's 40 years old but is great shape.

I can see the Braves possibly trading one of their top prospects for some much needed bullpen help. Our offense is mostly set for next year. I have heard that Marcus Giles could be on his way out, but I strongly doubt that. If the Braves don't pick up John Smoltz's option, I can really see him going to a team like the Mets or Cubs.
