Vernon Wells has been consistently non-committal when talk turns to his future with the Blue Jays.

Given that Wells has not begun discussions with the team about extending his contract which has a year remaining on it, that's understandable. But approached this weekend by a reporter from the Los Angeles Times, Wells was at his most expansive yet when discussing his future.

He still isn't sure where his future lies with the ball club, but for the first time he firmly made his desire to remain a Blue Jay clear.

Wells said it was "not 100%" that he would be targetting his home state teams of the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros should be become a free agent after 2007.

Asked about perhaps heading to Anaheim, Wells was coy commenting on what a "beautiful place" it is.

"At the same time," he continued, "I'm very comfortable here with Toronto. I've been here my whole career. This place is first and everything else is second."

To date, those are the strongest pro-Toronto comments he has made regarding his wish to remain a Blue Jay.

Anaheim?

What would link him to there? Has he expressed interest in playing there before?

He'd look good in a Mets jersey;)

Yes, he has expressed some interest in playing closer to home, evindently he lives on the west coast. Nobody wants to play for the Pon Scum man....c'mon...lol...just kidding of course. I really think he would be better off in a Cardinal uniform :)
