ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Ben Grieve hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Tampa Bay Devil Rays a 5-4 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday.

Randy Winn hit a two-out double off Pasqual Coco (0-1). After Steve Cox was intentionally walked and Greg Vaughn walked on a 3-2 pitch, Grieve singled down the left-field line.

Esteban Yan (1-0) retired all seven batters he faced for the win.

Toronto's Jose Cruz Jr. hit a two-run homer in the sixth and tied the game at 4 with an RBI double in the eighth.

Tampa Bay second baseman Felix Escalona saved two runs when he dove to the left to grab Vernon Wells' hard hit grounder, and then threw Wells out at first to end the eighth.

Raul Mondesi also homered for the Blue Jays, who had a four-game winning streak snapped.

Jason Tyner put Tampa Bay ahead 4-3 with a two-run single in the seventh inning. Tyner also had an RBI grounder during a two-run third.

Tampa Bay starter Wilson Alvarez, who allowed two runs and two hits over 5 2-3 innings, departed in the sixth after pulling a rib-cage muscle.

Alvarez went down to one knee and grabbed his right side after throwing a 2-2 pitch to Carlos Delgado. He will re-evaluated Monday.

Jesus Colome replaced Alvarez and threw ball four to Delgado. Cruz followed with a two-run homer that gave the Blue Jays a 3-2 lead.

Alvarez missed the past two seasons recovering from a partial left rotator cuff tear. He allowed three runs and five hits over 4 1-3 innings in his first start April 6 against the New York Yankees.

Toronto's Roy Halladay allowed four runs and seven hits in seven innings.

Delgado went 0-for-2 with two walks. He had four hits, five walks, two homers and five RBIs in the first two games of the series.

Tampa Bay took a 2-0 lead on Tyner's RBI grounder and a run-scoring single by Randy Winn in the third inning. Winn has driven in eight runs in six games at Tropicana Field.

Mondesi made it 2-1 with a fourth-inning solo homer.
