Mark Mulder underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder on Tuesday and is expected to rejoin his teammates within a matter of days. David Altchek, a Mets team physician, performed the procedure with consultation from Cardinals head team physician George Paletta.
"Everything went right according to plan, right according to schedule," said Mulder's agent, Greg Clifton. "They were very pleased. It was everything they expected."
Mulder does not expect his offseason throwing program to be affected by the operation. The rehabilitation time should be approximately 10-12 weeks. It's unclear when exactly he will rejoin the Cardinals, but it should be soon.
"I know his goal and intention is to come back and join the team, be part of something he wishes he could be a part of on the field," Clifton said.
