Isnt funny how some hitters just own some pitchers.

Pujols was 2-for-11 in the regular season against Lidge before last night's winning hit. And before Game 5 of last year's NLCS, Pujols was 1-4 with a single and a K against Lidge in the postseason. Hardly 'owning' him.

That said, Lidge probably shouldn't have been in there last night to face Pujols. Wheeler pitched a good 8th and has gone two innings before, plus has one of the (if not the) top ERAs among NL relievers since the All-Star break.

Not sure I would call a broken bat looper down the left field line "smokes one to right field". :notme: Maybe it's just me but isn't left field the one behind short and third? Give Pujols credit, he fought off a good pitch (one that broke his bat) and the ball landed fair. The real sticking point with me is Lidge's control. Hitting Spiezio (a .268 hitter) was the real mistake. You get the pancake hitter out and you don't have to face the best player in the game.

lol..broken bat looper? What game were you watching Dale?....I can tell you for a fact that was no looper....That ball went from right center to left field before it landed....trust me that thing was smoked!

I'm not sure what you were watching, but : Albert Pujols broke his bat on a 1-2 fastball in on the hands from Brad Lidge. All that meant was that the winning hit, which handed the Houston Astros an agonizing loss, lacked a certain solid tone.

Even without good wood Pujols got the best of Lidge again Tuesday night, this time hitting a two-run double with two outs in the ninth inning that gave the St. Louis Cardinals a 6-5 victory.

"Everything went our way," Pujols said. "It's good that we're catching those breaks. I wasn't trying to do too much, just put the ball in play."

Even in a hurricane force wind, I've never seen a ball go from right center to the left field line.

I'll have what you're having.:D:drunk2:

Ok dude...we'll just have to agree to disagree...either way...with first base open and Pujols at the plate...I think they should have walked him. When he hit that ball...it went from left center (sorry that's what I meant to say) to left, that means it had some english on it, which means he hit it well.
