Rookie All-Star Francisco Liriano will make his return to the rotation on Wednesday in the finale of the team's series with Oakland. The left-hander went 12-3 with a 2.19 ERA before being sidelined with elbow problems.

Liriano has worked hard to get to this return, including strengthening his pitching shoulder, which was considered a large factor in why the elbow troubles developed. Liriano has said that he's learned a lot about keeping his body healthy, and now he feels better than ever.

Matt Garza will be backing up Liriano who will have a limit of 60 pitchs...

The Twins saw one of their worst fears realized on Wednesday afternoon when left-hander Francisco Liriano left his start early with elbow pain in his throwing arm.
Liriano exited the game against the A's in the top of the third inning after throwing just 28 pitches. The left-hander threw what appeared to be a slider to Bobby Kielty on the first pitch and grimaced with pain as he came out of his pitching motion.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire and assistant trainer Dave Pruemer ran out to check on Liriano, and the pitcher was taken immediately out of the game.

Well that is a reason I heard the Giants traded him. He could never stay healtly during a season. but then again they said that after he was hurt so if it is true or not I dont know...

I hope Liriano doesn't end up like Prior.

Twins pitcher Francisco Liriano, who is 12-3 this season, turns 23 next month. He is being paid $327,000 this year, and because he is two years away from salary-arbitration eligibility, he probably will receive a 2007 contract in the $375,000 range. Wednesday, though, his pitching future became uncertain.
